O.K. not inside the vagina, but to the left or right of the groin. Right where the thigh connects to the groin. This is my most recent symptom. It almost feels like the veins there. Strained type of pain and feels worst when standing or walking. It seems to wrap around under the rear buttocks. Like I've been out climbing mountains, (not exactly!!!) Gee! What next?

I had something like that 2 times. Both times it became a lump and infected swollen glands. First one side- then a few weeks later the other side. Some sort of common bacterial infection.

don't know if this helps.

Rainbow...just WHAT am I going to do with you? That title: "WOmen with groin pain."
Is that a statement or question or rehash of my last relationship or that GREAT YEAST POST of YORE?

Seriously, and don't EVER call me that, part of our Lymphatic system runs through this area, and there are Lymph Nodes here. These Nodes respond in times of infection...that is what you are feeling. WHen I FIRST discovered I had Lyme, I thought I had a hernia...but it was not quite where a hernia would be...then the sweats, shakes, and unreal headache, plus delirium...nice stuff.

Do not worry...this shows your body is responding in a normal way to the Lyme and whatever else you may have. This too shall pass...

JRW, yes, I know my post was a little grafic. But I figured I could get a response on a slow Saturday night. Seriously though, I did think of the lymph nodes but just wanted to rule out some scary vein thing going on. Just when my legs seem alot better. Guess some of my symptoms are moving on "up".

Okay, I need clarification.

It sounds as though I get this "just to the left/right of the groin" pain, but I could better describe my pain in Barbie Doll anatomy.

(Hold on to that thought, JRW, I'm not quite finished with my comment . . .)

Anyway, as I was saying, if I were a Barbie Doll, with a missing leg, the pain I feel would be where that empty socket now is (where the leg/thigh would snap into, if it weren't missing).

It feels as though I have a large rubber band (in that socket) that is twisted and which binds and catches upon any movement (when it is acting up) as when going from a sitting position to a standing position, at which time the pain is excruciating.

Does this sound like what you are referring to?

tabbytamer-no, my pain is not the socket. It is BETWEEN the socket you are talking about and the groin. And as I said the other odd thing is under my rear buttocks. Other than lymph nodes or veins the only thing I can think of is just the lyme kicking my butt!!

Rainbow,

Hmm. No, I don't get that pain under the buttocks.

What I do know is that since I became ill with this stuff, I have gotten pains in places that I never knew existed.

Watch that pain. I had that on my right labia (not to get too graphic here). It started as just a feeling of a pulled muscle or something then it started to enlarge to like a marble. It was a glad that had become infected. I had it off and on during my birth control pill years. I think it was directly hormone related. It wasnt just partial to the right side and hit me on the left side from time to time. Mine was something called a Bartholin Glad Abcess. I eventually had to have both of my bartholins glands removed. It was the worst experience of my entire life. Keep watching that and if you start to develope a small pee size cyst or marble then go to the dr immed.. They can drain it before it gets too bad. Good luck!

EEEEK! I don't know whether to get excited or run for the hills!
Hmmmmmmmmm!???

Let's see, I will have to see you all to make an accurate hunch...as I am NOT a doctor, I can not diagnose...HOWEVER, I CAN PLAY DOCTOR, OK? Your house or mine. Be quiet, my parents will hear you come in....

Delightful regressions# 102

The problems you have are: Lymph Glands
and, possibly what I get in addition...tendonitis...caused by the Lyme bacteria. Often my hip joint ( a restaurant with good music) hurts so bad that I can't walk...then it goes away...very strange.

Rainbow, let me see...ok, ah ha, right THERE is it? Your hip joint could also be inflamed, and this can be felt "under" the buttocks. I have an excellant technique in massage that is great for this. Be right there!

Have you, seriously, tried aspirin for a few days? Also, SAM-e has just been given a tentative seal of approval as a good anti-inflamatory and mood elevator...

My office hours are whenever you get here.
Bring wine. and food...Thank you lord...

Hey, seriously, this is all Lyme stuff...don't worry...!

JRW- you are a smile to me every day-maybe I'll just walk over to your place. (coast to coast) Walking sometimes helps other times makes it worse. Go figure. I was thinking along gyn lines also so Plano Lymie I will heed your advice. This body has way too many distractions of the wrong kind the last 11 months that's for sure.

Hey Tabby!!!! MEOW!!!!

YOU NEVER KNEW THESE PLACES EXISTED??? HA!!!

Perhaps you could have told THAT to your boufriends, but PLEASE, we know better don't we??? Hmmmm?

Yes, of course we do. Now, where is everyone? I came home and NO ONE showed up yet. I can only wait so long...couple of months maybe....

Rainbow...I thought your pain was OUTSIDE the Fabian...(Sic) ? If not, and it is where PlanoLymie's was, by all means go to Gyno...I gonna go to my gyno...he'll tell me yes or no...goin' to my gyno...his hands are sooo cold though...gonna heat them up first...have a drink...quench my thirst..
goin to my gyno..you go girl...ouch...!!
Take it to the bridge....Hey!!....

Excuse me...just heard some old great music:
SHOTGUN by Junior Walker and the All Stars
(1965)...made me move, made me grove...get down!

Now. if your problem is not "inside"...and it feels like rubber bands...that is ligaments that go from your thigh over the pubic/hip bone...sometimes it can get irritated and inflamed...the same for the hip joint. Which, of course is the best kind...

Hey Jokester,

I may not know about some places, but I do know that my pubic bone and my hip bone are two different things.

Maybe not in your world . . . or maybe you've gotten into your kitties catnip one time too many.

California Dreaming, on such a winter's day...

Now, I too know the difference between a hip bone...connected to da thigh bone.the thigh bone connected to da knee bone...and dem all connected to the HAMBONE!

Is your pain in the crease where the thigh meets the pubic area, or behind your rear, under the gluteus?

If in front, along the line that forms a V as seen from the front (this is hard..no, not that, the subject...pant, pant) then you have either an enlarged lymph node...exactly what I had...or, tendonitis or inflammed ligaments and such...which Lyme causes.

If one follows this area to the rear, below the "cheeks," the hip socket is palpable...this too gets inflamed from Lyme and pain can radiate (referred pain) from this area. I just need to do an exam...nurse, please get dressed and set these people up with an appointment.

Woops, is this YOURS? No, I stopped wearing Panty Hose...yeast...!!!!

LUCKY PEOPLE TO LIVE IN CALIFORNIA...LAND OF EXPLODING TOILETS!

Now from another California girl. Rainbow! Too weird here! I came here tonight to do a search to see if anyone had posted with the exact pain you speak of here! I have that pain BAD today. Also have the pain Plano Lymie is speaking of.

How Tabbytamer explained the process is exactly what is happening to me upon sitting or rising. Although I can just be standing or sitting and it will hit. Sometimes it feels like my whole insides are coming out.

Now, not to get to graphic here. Actually I have no choice as I am dying to know if anyone else is experiencing this! I feel like I am nuts. Seems to be a pattern that during herx when I get the burning, itchy rash, I get it also in my vagina. It's not painful but much disturbing. I am positive I have no kidney or bladder infection or yeast for that matter.

I agree, I am finding weird pains and sensations with this thing that I never thought would be there.

Someone, PLEASE, take this dam- ELEPHANT OFF MY CHEST!

This is just TOOOOOOO strange for me.

Rainbow & Clarice:

Did you two contract Lyme here in California?

I am wondering if we have a similar strain? Or maybe it just depends on how long the body has been fighting this disease and these are all symptoms of chronic Lyme?

I've get that elephant pressure on my chest too. That's one of the more recent symtoms since I started abx.

Tabbytamer,
Yes, I did get my lyme right here in good ole N. CA. I said exactly the same thing to my husband last night "I wonder if it has someting to do with the type of strain it is." Our Lyme Support group meets tonight and if I am feeling better and go, I am going to ask around and see if anyone else has had or is having this type or reaction. I will let you know.

Ladies...if you get this burning, itchy rash INSIDE you really should get to a Gyno.

Who knows...you could have a sub-clinical case of fungus, or a bacterial infection. One does NOT have to have a discharge to have a fungus/yeast.

This is not something to fool around with.

The other symptoms could be caused by an infection here!

Lyme does some very strange things...is this Lyme related or not??? Get some smears taked...do the right thing and report back ASAP...I am waiting.

Good luck!

Peace. love and wellness

Don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting you, Rainbow. I have been lurking once in a while, but mostly these days doing my best to actually do things in between herxes and all that stuff. It's such a novelty to not be confined to four walls!

I also have had the kind of thing you describe and I would use almost identical terms to describe it (if that's where it is, name it!)-- that area in the leg socket by the groin, an almost burning pain stretched up to the buttocks. Mine was an inflamed tendon: my LD included a lot of tendonitis, and that wasn't even the worst.

I have the western strain too, btw (picked up in WA state though).

Did a little reading a while back about the different strains, and I think I remember (I still have sort of a Lyme brain) that one of the ways the western strain differs is that it is less likely than eastern strains to go arthritic, more likely to affect tendons and inner organs, and to go neuro more quickly.

I have also had swollen lymph nodes in my groin, and had a yeast infected gland that was boil sized, and the kind of discomfort you are describing sure sounds more like the tendonitis things to me.

Mine is clearing up nicely after a few months on doxy/flagyl/plaquenil plus herbs. I am off the flagyl for now, as I am taking Cipro for bartonella and you can't take the two together. Cipro has potential for weakening tendons, so I am theoretically taking it easy while I am on it. Wish I could remember that! I think I've been pushing my luck...

Whatever your problem turns out to be, hope it resolves soon.

Hugs,
Dayle Ann

I have also experienced something similar to this a couple of times in the past. I'm up here in Washington State and got Lyme here, so maybe it is a predominantly West Coast thing.

At the time I didn't know I had Lyme. I couldn't really tell where the discomfort was coming from, sometimes it felt like it was in the muscles or tendons, other times it felt more like it was in the organs or in the hip joint. I went to my gynecologist and was checked for vaginal infection or UTI but nothing turned up in the tests.

I then went to a physical therapist who thought it may be tendonitis. I had a few therapy treatments which helped some. Ice packs seemed to help a little (very attractive look under jeans). I think mine was centered in the connective tissue and it eventually went away, only to be replaced by other bizarre symptoms. Never a dull moment!

Dayle Ann, good to hear from you! So happy to hear you've made such tremendous progress and are able to go out and enjoy the world again. Keep up the good work!

Sorry to keep bringing this subject up but i was gone yesterday and just wanted to say thanks for everyone's input. REAL INTERESTING that Calif and Wash state (Clarice, Tabbytamer, and Jandy) were the ones having this. Maybe it it the West Coast strain) Yes, I got my lyme and babs here in N. Calif. And JRW, yes, It is exactly the "crease" between the groin and thigh. And under the "cheeks" Comes and goes. But not the elephant on my chest, that guy is there every day, I can't get rid of him with anything. My echocardiogram just came back o.k. now heart doc will do nuclear heart stress test next month just to be sure. But even he (my HMO no less) said my chest pressure could be from imflammation of the lyme. Maybe I could get him to write my abx-fat chance!! I 'll really be surprised if this chest pressure is my heart tho. Thanks again.

The chest pressure is your husband's head!!!

No? OK, try this on...you have intercostal muscles (between the ribs) that can get inflamed, along with the connective tissue.

Another possibility is anxiety...and stress.

DOes a nice hot bath (AFTER A CLEANSING SHOWER) make this go away?

Message?

Valium?

A fifth of Scotch?
This will all be history some day...do not worry.

I know exactly what pain you are talking about! It runs from the side of my groin to under my bum cheek. It feels like a burning or bruised sensation. I was told after numerous tests that I have Fibromyalgia. After reading these posts I am sure I have LD. I was bitten by a tick 10 years ago and have been ill on and off for that long. Can it still show up in a blood test after so long? Im also wondering if I could have gave it to my daughter when she was in the womb? She has been sick also and had her tonsils finally out from so many strep infections and now we both have heart pain alot. I get all the other symptoms daily now. I even still have a scar where the little bugger burrowed in. They told me our ticks dont carry lyme. Anyhow thanks for being here.

I have groin pain as well, but like Sue VG, I just found out I have an inguinal hernia. Strange....I'm 25, not overweight and don't do any heavy lifting...I've had all sorts of weird things happen to me since I got Lyme Disease.

Dear Dayle Ann
You mentioned:

Did a little reading a while back about the different strains, and I think I remember (I still have sort of a Lyme brain) that one of the ways the western strain differs is that it is less likely than eastern strains to go arthritic, more likely to affect tendons and inner organs, and to go neuro more quickly.

Do you have any idea where you read above information - as I have only had Lyme since early summer and my worst problem is pain - (I think it's nerve pain) - and would like to read something more about the different strains - if you can remember - would much appreciate.

Maybe this is just lyme paranoid thinking, but it strikes me that if the "strains" can be defined with certain differences, it sure rings of a " man manufactured " kind of thing doesn't it!
