I started taking garden of life fungal defense. I took the prescribed starting dose of one three times a day.

On the second day I woke up withba killer migraine type. Went away after a few hours.

Today I only took one this moring. I got the ole chest tightening short of breath nervous reaction.

I tried to search for fd herx but couldnt find anything.

Anybody try this? It is pricey...

It's probably die-off of the candida. Hang in there. Take one a day for a few days.

"Can barely take as breath..am gasping for air."

Randibear, I suggest that you don't take any more of the Fungal Defense until your breathing improves.

I checked the list of ingredients at iHerb.com and found:

Fungal Defense Herbal Balance Blend, 475 mg
Syrian Oregano (Origanum syriacum),
Sweet Basil (Ocimum basilicum),
Lemongrass Powder (Cymbopogon citratus),
Olive Leaf Extract (Olea europaea),
Cinnamon Bark Powder (Cinnamomum cassia)

Fungal Defense Enzyme Balance Blend, 233 mg
Protease
Cellulase

Fungal Defense Living Herbal Poten-Zyme Blend, 125 mg
Garlic Juice
Yucca Juice

It's possible that some of those may kill bacteria, or that the enzyme blend can dissolve excess fibrin in the bloodstream, thus reducing biofilm and exposing Lyme bacteria to the killing action of white blood cells.

So you could possibly be having a herx reaction, as the liver would need more magnesium to detoxify the poisons left behind.

Headaches and muscle spasms are symptoms of low magnesium.
The alveoli in the lungs can spasm, causing a "tight chest" feeling and difficulty breathing.

Take magnesium supplements and eat magnesium rich foods.

If you have a salt pipe/inhaler, now is the time to use it, inhaling the salt ions deep into the lungs to reduce inflammation and help clear mucous.
People with asthma say that it reduces the wheezing.

randibear, I am prone to migraines and have found that Olive Leaf Extract is a trigger even at very low doses. I see that it is one of the ingredients in the product you mention.

Currently I take Phellostatin and am able to tolerate it -- be sure to start at a low dose and do not take with clarithromycin.

Mystic.. Maybe your main problem is Candida, not Lyme??

I've never tolerated any of their products well, not even the multivitamins. They tend to use a lot of what they call "fermented whole foods" in their products.

It took me awhile but I realized that I react like I am eating mold. I am allergic to molds.

So you may not be experiencing a herx if you have tolerated the main listed ingredients before.

The product got good reviews on iherb.com so it may be helpful to some people. Just be aware that all reactions are not herxes.
