Hi guys, I don't have my appt. with my LLMD for a few more months so was hoping to get your input. I've been on rifampin(600mg), doxy, cefuroxime, hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin for just over two months to tackle bart and mycoplasma. I really haven't felt all that better, probably even more tired. I am also taking all the appropriate probiotics and supplements. I am wondering if I should just stop taking these until my appt. with LLMD. Most people I have read feel a lot better a lot sooner with rifampin.

My doc told me not to take rifampin with a ceftin(cefuroxime)/doxy combo. I was to discontinue ceftin BEFORE adding rifampin to the doxy because it's a conflict.
Self-treating sucks. I think Dr. B had something in his guidelines for appropriate combos. Ceftin/doxy was as good combo for me though.
I've had to self-treat before (not fun), but I'd air on the side of caution with taking too many meds at once.
With that many antibiotics in your body, my concern for you would be not being able to monitor your blood for reactions in places like your liver/kidneys til you got to the LLMD.
The other combo my doc may have mentioned was doxy/rifampin/azithromycin, but we never got to that point (we were going to add in azithromycin after transitioning to rifampin, but I had a horrible reaction to rifampin, not herx).
Everyone's body is different. Personally, I probably wouldn't be able to stand on the combo you're taking.

That is really good to know, thank you. I assumed my LLMD put me on this combo and knew the ramifications. Would I be ok getting rid of the ceftin and taking the other ones? What sort of conflict does it cause? Thanks again for the reply

Sorry Judie, to clarify, I'm not self treating, that is what my LLMd put me on

Oh, I see. I'd call your doctor. Something might just be making you very tired in the mix.
I had to figure that one out last week and it was a drug the doc gave me to help with allergies to other drugs (I need to call my doc about it tomorrow).
Rifampin was really not a good medication for me, along with some other antibiotics I've taken. It's so individual.
I just know my doc wouldn't do all the ones you're doing together, but I'm glad your doc isn't shy about prescribing.
Here's some more info on combinations. I don't know if it will help, but I always like to feel more educated about what the docs are doing.

Keep going with it, Jets Fan!
Rifampin is great for bart-made me tired on it also, but really knocked the bart down.
If that is what your doc told you to take, trust your doc and keep going, especially with myco and bart-both tough ones.
