first time in entire life ( on birth control ) no period??
still got period migraine I always get
very strange , been on same pill for 20 yrs
could antibo's effect that?
not under anymore stress then normal ( and have been much more stressed in past )
( and before you ask i haven't had sex in over 14 months )

lucy, that was exactly where my mind was going. Abx of course are known to make the pill not as effective.
I've heard of women getting worse menstrual symptoms, heavy bleeding, PMS sx and a herx attached to their cycle.
But I don't recall ever hearing about your issue. Maybe some other ladies will tell you that they had the same issue some months.
35 is way too young for someone to try to tell you you're going into menopause. Lyme & co does play havoc on the hormone systems male or female.
I hope you find someone to assure you it's part of the illness and no worries.

Abx totally messed up my period, and I was like clockwork.
This is normal. Just go with it. If it goes on for several months, get a check-up, but don't get stressed about it.

Abx made mine come back after 11 months without(but I was 50) then they made it come back once after 14 months after that. Of course it's good to get checked out. But my dr. Told abx can mess around with your hormones.

I've always had a visual of lyme bacteria....pacman going around the body gobbling up all that is needed to make them stronger and more powerful.
I've jokingly said they eat all our hormones. I don't think it's a joke anymore. I believe it's for real.
They eat anything they want! I'm glad some ladies with that experience came along. Just goes to show, we are all over the board with differences in symptoms. Odd but true.

Lyme can knock out a period - it's called artificial menopause - if that's what's happening -
Does anything really make any sense with us? I didn't have one for decades, due to this infection. Then my chiropractor decided to try some cranial work with me, which entailed him putting his hands on my head with me laying down, and him adjusting the skull bones and feeling for pulses. My period started the next day!
When I reported back about this phenomenon the next time I saw him, the woman in the next room over remarked, "Whatever you did for her, I don't want it!" !!

I went from clock work to nothing. In my 40's so not unusual but still....from clock work to nothing. No slow change. M
I had lost weight and maybe got too thin and that could have pushed me over the edge or the abx.'s or effect of long term lyme could have pushed me as well.

Lyme did this to me. It gave me a false menopause. This is not good for your bones. You may need to go on hormone replacement therapy (take estrogen and progesterone) if your estrogen tests low. This way, the lack of estrogen won't weaken your bones and give you osteoporosis.
Good lyme treatment (but not lousy lyme treatment) brought back my periods.
I have known other women who lost their periods from lyme. I have also known some whose breasts began producing milk from lyme.
Unless you can come up with some other reason (like becoming severely underweight or extremely athletic), I would say that lyme has attacked you gynecologically, like it did me. It was no fun. Symptoms got really bad. This went on for at least 5 years.

Antibiotics don't do this. Sorry to say that it appears your illness is progressing. That means your treatment is inadequate.
When I got a new symptom while treating lyme (the symptom was trigeminal neuralgia) I asked Burrascano at a lyme meeting what he thought of this development (a patient on high dose antibiotic getting a new symptom--trigeminal neuralgia). His reply was:
"If the therapy is inadequate, the disease will continue to progress."
That is how I found out that my treatment was inadequate. I left my lousy lyme doctor and got me a Burrascano type doctor. Within a few months of switching doctors, I got my periods back and all of my so-called menopause symptoms began to reverse. This was after being told that I was in menopause by so many gyns that it wasn't funny.
I was able to stop my hormone replacement therapy. However, I found out a few years later that I have osteopenia. So, I will never know if that was due to the years lyme shut down my ovaries or not.
Please treat this seriously and get whatever hormones you need until you can get good lyme treatment and get your periods back.

Definitely two schools of thought here as some like boxer mom feel antibx can cause loss of period
Vs tf who feels otherwise I must admit I feel it's the up dose in Meds
I have felt much much worse then do know and period not effected
I also take birth control had all period symptoms just no blood

Lucy-perhaps a different pill as well?
There are so many "safer" lower dose birth control pills now, as compared to even ten years ago.
Maybe the hormone dose is just too high for your body now? Hormones are filtered by the liver-maybe because lyme does a number on the liver, it is less efficient at filtering?
Just theorizing here.
I haven't used the pill for many years because of the health risks, (now don't need to...thanks lyme for making me infertile), but lots of my teammates use some of the newer lower dose kind.
Maybe something to check out.
Also, mense hormones are made by the hypothalamus, lyme does a number on that gland too.
Sigh.

Interesting Greta I do take ortho tri which is very high hormone ( have for like 18 yrs)

My guess is it is affecting your birth control hormonal medication, affecting your cycle: (copied below)

Rifampin DOES make birth control pills less effective. I talked to my doc about it while back and it's not a good combo with birth control pills if you want the birth control aspect.
I've been analyzing my 23andme genes.
One of my genes effects estrogen when combined with meds and one drug that's mentioned is rifampin.
Lyme also made me have messed up periods. From clockwork to nada. Then with herbs someone gave me I was on a 21 day cycle, UGH.... not good that way either.
I'm still figuring this out myself, but I believe Lyme and antibiotics can make your hormones go wacko.

Hormones wacko, mind wacko, it's so hard to figure what truly is going on with ones body.
There is nothing black or white with Lyme Disease & co. As you can see we are all over the board with symptoms, treatments, reactions whether it's good or bad to a certain med or even an abx or is it the long list of bacteria, viruses, parasites and protozoa that have invaded our bodies?
It is so complicated and it's takes a genius to try to figure this all out. If you have a genius Lyme & Co medical doctor....you are truly blessed.
But as we all know, we are all different in so many ways. But then again we all are so much alike in so many ways. We know it can go from one end of spectrum to another on symptoms and their causes and even the medical term for it all is still in question.
