Curious as to what everyone's Flagyl dose/pulse is. I really don't understand how some people are to take it for weeks at a time and some people take a few days at a time.

Typically cyst busters are taken only a few days at a time until they are tolerated well. Each LLMD has their own schedule for people to titrate up to a certain level.

Burrascano said at a lyme conference a few years back that a person needs to be on flagyl for at least 2 weeks at a time for it to work.
Some people can't start out at 14 days in a row on flagyl. So, their docs start them out at a few days at a time and work up to the 14.
So, that is what you are noticing. Many people get very, very sick from even one day of flagyl. My doc says that this is because flagyl kills many, many things. These people cannot handle the toxin (poison from dead bacteria and other germs) that flagyl causes.
People who are very ill and those who have trouble detoxifying will likely have a lot of herxing on flagyl.
If you can't stand the effect of flagyl, you have to ramp up to the 14 days in a row, or longer.
People who don't have lyme have told me that they can't tolerate flagyl. Who knows? Maybe they have lyme and other parasites, etc. that flagyl is killing, and this is a herx?
Flagyl is known for causing bad herxes. See the following quote from Burrascano regarding flagyl:
"Important precautions:
1. Pregnancy while on Flagyl is not advised, as there is a risk of birth defects.
2. No alcohol consumption! A severe, "Antabuse" reaction will occur, consisting of severe nausea, flushing, headache, and other symptoms.
3. Yeast overgrowth is especially common. A strict anti-yeast regimen must be followed.
4. Flagyl can be irritative to the nervous system- in the short term, it may cause irritability, "spacey" feelings, etc. Longer term, it can affect the peripheral nerves, causing tingles, numbness, etc. If mild, a change in dose may be required. Often, extra vitamin B can clear these symptoms. If the nerve symptoms persist or are strong, then metronidazole must be discontinued or these symptoms may become very long lasting.
5. Strong Herxheimer-like reactions are seen in almost everyone." (page 15)
My doc put me on flagyl on day 1 of treatment and had me take it for the next 60 days straight. I was also on high-dose amoxicillin with that. I had my first herx thanks to this combo.
The herx wasn't bad. About 1 week in length. The first 3 days were bad and the next 4 half bad. So, it was nothing to write home about.
This treatment got rid of my lyme in 2 months.
