I just started taking doxy last night and realized this morning that I have to take it 3 times a day. Is anyone on a similar schedule? where do you fit meals, supplements, etc in?

any advice would be helpful! if you have any schedule that you want to share it would be very helpful!

Your supplements should be two hours from your abx. Most do better eating when they take their abx so if you are taking it three times a day, try taking it with your meals.

I usually take probiotics at bedtime a couple of hours after supplements.

In case you don't know, there are some important tips to know when taking Doxy. Do not have any dairy, magnesium, or iron within two hours of taking it or it will not be absorbed properly. If it makes you nauseous, eat something substantial and non-dairy before taking it. Sometimes it helps to take the it in the middle of a meal.

Avoid the sun. You can get a severe burn in minutes even when wearing sunscreen. When I took Doxy, my knuckles got severely burned from the sun shining through the car window when I was driving!

Do not lay down for at least an hour after taking it or you can ulcerate your esophagus. This is very painful. Drink a full glass of water with it for the same reason.

Whenever you take any antibiotics, be sure to take high-quality acidophilus at least two hours away from the meds. This helps to prevent yeast overgrowth. The best kind to get have a high-culture count and are refrigerated. Most health-food stores carry this.

It can be tricky following these guidelines, but it can be done. Good luck!

That's very odd to be taking it three times a day. At least I've never heard of that.

The hardest thing will be trying to fit probiotics into that schedule.

Thanks for all the responses. I didn't know much about doxy and interactions so all was helpful as I try to educate myself.

Lymetoo - I too think the 3 times a day is odd. i am going to ask about that is a 1 and a half at my next appt. She wanted me to start this right away as she found typhus in my latest bloodwork.

Thanks again!

Maybe the dosing is different with typhus.
