I took a round of Coartem in the fall - could not handle full doses, only took 1/4 tab doses.

It either herxed me badly, or I had a bad reaction to it and stopped.

I started it again 2 months ago and only got as far as one week - 1/4 tab once, and second week, 1/4 tab twice. That is it.

My LLMD theorizes that I might have kicked it with that little bit.

However, my load was really really low - something like 1:128 or however that ratio reads, when they tested me last June. These treatments were in the fall and winter, respectively. Plus antibiotics.

I'm going to start it tomorrow. Will tell you how it goes. My LLMD will have me on really high doses and in between I think she wants to do Primaquine. She wants to be aggressive also art and crypto, clynda, etc.

mlg, I couldn't even tolerate a half tab. A quarter tab even made me feel bad. I hope you didn't take a full tab.

I was told it hits other parasites, too. Anyone know which ones?

Hi,

The doctor prescribe 4 tabs 2 times a day for 3 days. Then stop for 11 days. On the 11 days do primaquine.

The Coartem is making me dizzy, nauseous, disoriented, brain fog, tired, I think I am only going to do it two days and maybe cut my dosage a little down to 3 tabs, or lower.

Good God.

I was doing a 1/4 tab once a week... then 1/4 tab twice the next week... and by the time I got up to three times I wasn't happy.

My LLMD had me stop all meds. Then start in a couple of days with Clynda and then Primaquine, etc.

They want me to stop Coartem for now.

mlg, this is an older thread, but how did you do on the Primaquine?

Your coartem reaction sounds like mine, and my LLMD also took me off after two rounds (couldn't even get to the full dose).

LLMD just put in for primaquine, which my insurance denied, but I think I will pay out of pocket because this is the third Babs med they've denied, and I can't handle these symptoms anymore.

Thanks!

I took Riamet (Coartem) for 3 or 4 days, I can't remember. It literally also knocked me down, with herxes, then I felt like new!!

It was so sudden.

After 3, 4 weeks, some babs symptoms slowly crept back, but surely. Babs symptoms keep changing, and it is hard to track it, I find.

Riamet /Coartem must be repeated and I do not think it works really as mono therapy. My opinion.

I had two babs infections, from two different bites. It took me many herbs in combination, microcurrent, artemisinin, artemisia annua to put this awful infection under control. Riamet was very helpful, but it didn't solve by itself.

Maybe you are luckier than I was??

I'm taking coartem right now. 4 tabs 2x per day for 3 days straight then 2.5 weeks off.

It gives me heavy duty air hunger and bad headaches. I'll take what I can handle as long as it works.
