Last year my doctor switched me from doxy to Cefdinir to help with sun sensitivity. I was getting burns just driving in my car, even with sunblock.

About a month ago she put me back on doxy.

Now I find that after just a few minutes outside my lips go numb, my forearms feel like pins and needles, and the backs of my hands go numb. It lasts for an hour or so after I get my silly **** back inside.

Anybody else experience this with sun and doxy? I haven't seen this listed anywhere as a side effect, not sure if I should be concerned.

Yep, I know....stay out of the sun.

Yes.

Me as well.

Even with 60 spf, my hands burnt 2nd degree burns just from driving, last summer.

My doc switched me from doxy to mino.

This year I was on doxy until end of March. Same thing, as soon as I went into sunlight (not a lot, it rains like crazy here).

And when I went to wash my hands, it felt like ice crystals hitting my hands.

Yes, this is common with doxy, and sunscreen does not help.

Someone before mentioned a chemical reaction-causing a chemical burn. (activated by UV).

All I know, it takes forever to heal, hurts like the Dickens and leaves scars.

Thanks Greta. What about numbness? I knew burning was common with doxy but didn't expect my lips to go numb.

I don't know about lips going numb.

Just that it screws up nerve endings and signals.

The burnt part of my hands and nose did feel different. I could dig my nails in.

If you take a benadryl-does the nummbness go away? If so, maybe you've developed an allergy to doxy?
