Obviously I don't want to put metal in my mouth when it's been such an issue in the past.
My biological dentists assures me that I should be fine with teeth implants.
I'm not comfortable with that answer.

I want zirconium, too. I have a very persnickety immune system and since titanium constantly gives off metal ions I'd probably develop antibodies to it sooner or later.
Zirconium doesn't do that as much (I don't believe claims that it doesn't at all, since its close to titanium. But it's better).
In Europe they use them. I wonder about Mexico. Cheaper, too.

I regret getting my titanium dental implant. It seems that since I got that in 2008, I have had many dental issues including 2 root canals and eventual loss of hearing in the ear on that side.
I can't prove any of it is related, but I think the implant may have done something to my immune system to allow Lyme spirochetes to start to win. I now have a cyst directly above the titanium implant in my maxillary sinus. I must listen to what sounds like a short wave radio being tuned 24/7. I also have squeezing, buzzing and electrical sensations in my face and jaw that are so annoying.
I am awaiting results of MELISA blood testing to see if I am allergic to or sensitive to titanium and the other metals in my implant. I am having difficulty finding an oral surgeon willing to take my 'intact' dental implant out.

I'd do patch testing or other kinds of allergy testing before getting dental work.
I was allergic to all kinds of common things even in supposedly "biologically compatible" material.
Allergeaze and dormer makes patches that an allergist or dermatologist can administer and insurance should pay.
I got all the ingredients that were in the materials my dentist wanted to use then tested each individual ingredient.
I found this info most helpful because then I could just look at the ingredients list for future dental materials.
Zirconium and Mizzy Fleck's cement I found to be safe.

I was told that zirconium is not strong enough for molars. Material may be healthier but that does not mean it will be more functional.
I am trying to decide on implants as well. I have no allergy to titanium and had allergy testing done before my cranioplasty for a chiari plate.
Still....I wonder just how healthy more titanium will be. Never a slam dunk answer.
