I know I am a hypochondriac but I recently noticed thin dark lines on both of my thumb nails - never noticed this before .. Am currently on antibiotic regime but I'm reading this could be a problem associated with the heart , should I worry . See my llmd in few weeks

I had this too, but on my toenails and it totally freaked me out. The conclusion my doctors came up with was that it had to do with circulation. I had some major clotting issues before they found out I had been bitten by a tick. I now take a baby aspirin everyday. Follow-up on this post to let us know what your doctor says. By the way, I have come to the conclusion that we are not hypocondriacs, some doctors just don't have a clue. Isabel

I get these SH's, too, and was very worried bc they are supposedly pathagnmonic for endocarditis.
My LLMD said don't worry, that the endocarditis connection in the literature is overblown.
I also feel like a hypochondriac sometimes, but we're not! We've been forced to record the daily minutia of our own chronic illness and find patterns, as we don't get answers from mainstream med.
I find that hearing other patients' similar experience is a huge relief when doctors shrug.
