My 3 year old niece was bitten by a Lone Star tick on May 8th. Her pediatrician put her on a month of amoxicillin which she started four days later. Tick site looked fine at that point... not red or irritated. Today (3 weeks later) it looks like a red swollen pimple. Is this anything to be concerned about?

I really don't know. I would think that anything could become infected. Do you know if she's been scratching it? Is she still taking the amoxy? -------------------- --Lymetutu-- Opinions, not medical advice!

She is still on the amoxicillin. The site doesn't itch or hurt. We are keeping an eye out for any rash or symptoms.

I am not too familiar with the Lone Star ticks and specific bacteria they carry. Is there a "relapsing" bacteria or virus they can carry? I had strange satelite rashes pop up when I first started treating lyme. Maybe it is a satellite rash?
