I was diagnosed with lyme 2008 with an equivocal IgM IgM of .92. I was on three months of IV antibiotics and did great up until the past few months

I was diagnosed with crohns the next year started treatment and had little issues until last November

In November I was hospitalized for 8 days due to a crohns flare. I was put on prednisone high dosage till March. Since then I have had some of same symptoms of the lyme and it is getting worse

My dr sent off the blood work for lyme wich knew should show equivocal due to previous test but the IgM and Igb were positive with a 1.77

Now I am confused does that mean there is a flare of the lyme or it is reactivated due to prednisone or several tick bites in last few months

I have tried to find info and my brain is already not working correctly so all info so far has been confusing. My dr is dismissing all signs of coarse bc lyme has been so called treated and my LLMD I saw has moved and I have to be treated as new patient with the initial visit costing over 700$

I am researching all aspects because of the expense before I go

Any interpretation or opinions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Currently on humira for crohns

Lyme doesn't follow the same rules as other bacteria or viruses for western blots (igm and IgG).

Chronic lyme shows up in IgM.

(Lyme exchanges it's surface proteins and DNA with other bacteria's DNA. It also reacts to different stressors (abx, heat) and changes it's outer surface protein. The immune system constantly sees "new" infection-but it is an active lyme infection.

Sounds like you should be evaluated by an LLMD (spend the $700-it's your quality of life at risk).

If your brain is already havinmg confusion, the infection is widespread.

Dr. B's guidelines are at the top of this forum-print em and read em. Great advice in there.

Thank you GretaM I know I need to go but am trying to find a dr a little closer

It also helps to have unbiased opinions my dr sand family are divided on what to do and I am the one who keeps saying it is the lyme not crohns or side effect of the medication humira I am taking

So many drs around me do not believe in Lyme disease and it is a constant struggle for drs or others to understand

I spent $20,000 6 years ago to feel better and it was worth every penny. I know that probably that is what I am going to have to do again

Thx again for the reply any other suggestions are very welcomed

I would blame the prednisone.
There are a couple Llmd's cropping up in NC

"So many drs around me do not believe in Lyme disease and it is a constant struggle for drs or others to understand"

We really, really need to do something to help the response in NC. It might not all be classic Borellia, but NC has one of the highest rates of tick-borne dz in the country, yet tick patients are completely not taken seriously.

- Working Dx: Protozoa x3, Bartonella
- Tx: Biaxin, Mycobutin, Ivermectin, boluoke, serapeptase, allimed, silver ACS 200 spray, Mg, Iodoral, fish oil, Vit's B, C, D, NAC, etc

Sicksci what you are saying is so true. I may have found one dr in NC but have left a message for new patient and have not gotten response

I did this before I got the second test and my dr said it was no big deal bc it will always be positive so he will not treat with abx

I just don't understand how the test could change from .92 and was taken seriously and now at 1.77 and similar symptoms is normal with no treatment.

I'm going to try to contact dr again and then see if not guess I better prepare to go to DC to see the dr I saw before who I loved but just hate to travel so far

I am also interested if my case was reported to the CDC because we need more cases submitted to show there is a problem. I know it was not submitted 7 years ago.

Thanks again for the support
