Oh man. I have been feeling awesome the past couple weeks. I really felt like I was getting better. I guess they were hiding. I was taking Omnicef, mino, and pulsing flagyl.

Then, this morning I took one 150mg rifampin and I'm crazy herxing. From ONE? Really?

It's mostly neurological - buzzing, involuntary facial movements, twitching, emotional, dazed.

Does this mean I am killing bartonella bacteria? Is it typical to herx from just one pill? Thanks!

I was on Doxycycline for a month no herx, now Im on Rifampin for the last three weeks and no herx.

After adding the A-Bart and A-Inflam it gives me massive headaches as I increase in dose.

--------------------
Bartonella (Rifampin 300 mg 2x day, A-Bart, A-Iflam)
Toxic mold exposure (Cholestyramine 4x day)
Heavy metals
Marcon staph infection (Beg spray)

Totally plausible!

Rifampin is one of those abx my doc told me to s.l.o.w.l.y work up to ideal dose.

I herxed like hell for the first ten days I was on it.

Maybe up the detox methods you do, between abx doseages.

And if it becomes unbearable, phone your doc and see if you can step it down.

Also, FYI the people in your life that you may not be yourself for two weeks or so.

Good to know!

Could it be lyme die off? Or does this indicate I have Bart?

Keep track of your symptoms.

Rifampin made me horribly ill. I started to lose my senses (I couldn't hear or feel things I touched). I also hallucinated. It was awful. I learned some antibiotics can make these symptoms permanent. I don't know if rifampin is one of them, but it was bad.

The doc said add it to my allergy list and not to take it again.

Senses returned to normal in a few days. It was scary.

Mamasmith -

If you really want an answer, you could consider Bartonella testing through Galaxy labs (down the road in the RTP); some patients only seroconvert after treatment.

GretaM yes great advice slowly ramp up . I used to take a lot.

But more importantly and something I completely forgot about is Also, FYI the people in your life that you may not be yourself for two weeks or so.

I used to warn my loved ones I'm not myself please understand when I need or want space , it was not to be selfish .

Ment to stop any confrontation to any unnecessary arguments or to stop or prevent any unwanted or unneeded stress.

With that being at the forefront from the beginning has helped immensely in improving and more important keeping the relationship healthy.
