For an almost 3 year old who was just bitten yesterday by a nymphal tick.
Dr was clueless since she can't take Amox.
I checked Dr B's guidelines and it doesn't really give any good alternatives for oral meds for young children.
Any parent's out there with recent experience treating a young child for a tick bite or Lyme who was allergic to Amoxicillin?
Dr said he would have to prescribe clindamycin and that was not a protocol for Lyme.

Dekrator,
For what the sight is worth, the cdc.gov site says if younger then 8 and allergic to amoxicilin, give cefuroxine axetil twice daily. I think that's ceftin.
Anyway, perhaps a call to Doc J for a consult?

and also Zithromax. If she is tested and it comes back positive I would contact Dr. J office and see if they use tindamax on children that young, so that you cover all three forms. Also test for co-infections.
