I know we're supposed to 'avoid stress', but I figured a little faux-stress from a beloved horror flick wouldn't hurt... or maybe build some stress stamina for eventual return to the real world...
But I think World War Z might send me to the ER tonight. My heart is pounding so hard I'm nauseous.
Did the exaggerated adrenaline rush ever go back to the way you were before being sick for anybody?

SickSci-OMG!
So funny you wrote this! When I read it, I thought, is this a thread I wrote before? Then I saw it was you who started it.
Yes, zombie movies now literally scare the daylights out of me. I used to be a horror buff, and me and my friend would go to every horror flick at the theatre.
I cannot do this anymore.
It literally scares me so much, and the sharp sounds startle me so badly, it almost sets of a flight or flight reflex in me.
The adrenaline takes hours to go away and then the day after I am spent.
I firmly believe that any scary movie, or any movie with startling sound effects affects our adrenal system now, because of damage/infection from TBD.
Sorry it happened to you but SO relieved it just isn't me.

Was watching district nine when very ill. I had to turn it off, freaking me out. Now that I am so much better it is more "digestible" to watch scary.
Sound is still a big issue for me,one of my last symptoms

I used to watch a lot of celebrity ghost story's or scary movies , never bothered me .
Then one day out of the blue few years back they really got to me , I had to turn tv off.
I was still very sick with lyme and bartonellia .
Then few weeks later I said to myself I'm going to watch these shows regardless , well I did and it annoyed and scared me for about a month ,
I had managed to overcome the stress like anxiety feeling watching these shows .
Other things would set it off also and on purpose I would bring out that feeling of stress like anxiety. Face it head on ,
well if it did not bother me before being sick , I realized it's the disease .
Fear knocked on the door faith answered , know one was there.
But now after successful treatment I'm back to my normal self and watch these shows again like I used to.

I don't watch the violent parts of any movies/tv shows. Just leave the room or cover my eyes. Life is too frightening to add to the load.

Ditto Poppy and Norcal.
Movies like district nine are so freaky/scary (like world war z) that they seem to reek havoc on my adrenals. It's the startling that gets me, as well as the disturbing nature of the movie possibly sticking as a memory.
Anything that makes me hold my breath and my heart pound can't be good for me, so I limit this stuff.
So, the lego movie was awesome!

Those kinds of movies aren't good for anyone's psyche.

When I was sick, I had to restrict how often I watched action movies or thrillers. Some movies/shows that "keep you at the edge of your seat" just simply wore me out.
