I've been herxing for a week. One thing concerning me is I think my blood pressure is up b/c I have a tight feeling in chest and dizziness. Any suggestions on how to reduce this feeling and possibly lower blood pressure?

- Have you done a reading on your blood pressure with a home cuff / kit?
The symptoms may not be what you think. Until you know for certain what your blood pressure reading is, it would be hard to advise on that.
[And, if you need fast medical advise, be sure to call Urgent Care. Fast or not, though, most of us can only answer based on what we've experienced or read.]
Are you taking any Rx for blood pressure or cholesterol?
What Rx are you taking? For lyme?
Biaxin, doxycycline & minocycline, & others - can cause dizziness as they stress the liver / inner ear - and that vertigo usually triggers nausea and that can then all trigger a drop in blood pressure.
What liver support are you doing?
That information will help with suggestions.
A herxheimer can cause all that you describe, for various reasons. If it is that, bouts of low blood pressure could be occurring - and that can also cause muscles in the belly and chest to tighten up.
Low blood pressure - or bouts of NMH, POTS, are very common with any inner ear stress - and with lyme. NMH and POTS can also occur in someone with high blood pressure. So it's important to know the readings.
Both sitting very still for a few minutes before the reading.
Then, get ready to take the reading . . . stand up quickly and take it. Breathe normally, do not hold breath (as can happen when we concentrate or are flustered).
If you feel dizzy or have any degree of vertigo upon standing - or are nauseated - that is also key detail.
MAGNESIUM. Are you taking magnesium?
Most of these questions are really rhetorical. You will see why I ask in the next post and then be able to figure out how to proceed. Hint: magnesium is likely the answer to help, no matter what. First, see the magnesium links set, though, in with the liver links.
Divided doses, never all at once. -

OK, LLMD has since changed my meds. I'm now taking flagyl (three x/day through the week, but not on weekends), minocycline once daily (in evening), and azithromycin once daily (in morning).
I do not have access to a blood-pressure cuff, so I am only guessing at the rise in blood pressure. I took an aspirin and seem to feel a bit better now, but not sure if aspirin is a good idea.
As for other things I'm taking, at present, only a probiotic, vitamin C, curcumin, and lots of ice water.
