Does anyone live near Manhattan Kansas? Plum Island WAS to be shut down but then moved to K-State campus in Manhattan KS. Some years ago when I heard this I sent a letter to the editor of Manhattan KS paper (The Mercury)and it got PRINTED!
The entire city went bonkers. They got the move stopped. They had lied to the Manhattan government, university and chamber of commerce saying it was a small safe animal testing lab that was NO threat to humans. Just "millions of dollars will be added to Manhattan economy!".
A hundred plus "accidents" have occurred on Plum Island and now the germ warfare, bacteria and virus lab is being moved to dead center of USA right where center of live stock and crop biz takes place. It is is being moved to the center of America's "breadbasket". Community activist went nuts after reading my letter in the local newspaper and shut down the move. THEY THOUGHT! Not so. The USDA told me then "Plum Island is going to be shut down and destroyed". Activists in Manhattan celebrated. Oops. too soon.
at the time the mayor Manhattan, head of Chamber of Commerce and the editor of Mercury News all demanded I write a new letter of retraction that Plum Island 100% safe. I refused!
I just learned the USDA is getting ready to move it ASAP to Manhattan before 2016 election (before public hears about it.
The liar! (sorry, he lied to me IMO!) at USDA told me recently when I referenced our earlier conversation of years ago saying "I told you Plum Island was going to be shut down and destroyed - I did not lie.
I did not say a duplicate lab would be built on the K-State campus!. You should have asked me!"
Like the Bill Clinton word games --"that depends on what the meaning of Is is".
Now the Manhattan KS newspaper refuses to talk to me nor the mayor or any official at K-State or anyone in Manhattan!!
SOMEONE in Manhattan Kansas needs to resound the alarm - the battle was NOT won. The move is still on but RUSH RUSH! and very soon! I live 140 miles downwind from Manhattan KS (Kansas City).
This is beyond serious. Please -someone please - get Manhattan activists to wake up! I know no one in Manhattan Kansas.
My last name Yantis in Kansas - put in Google to find me or PM me - please someone help!! Buy thew book Lab 257 new from Amazon or used alibris.com 99 cents plus postage.
It has all been confirmed by whistle blower who is now on the run. The US is preparing EB-D68 virus spread by central American "unaccompanied minors" being spread all over US.
Worse, Ebola takes 7 days to incubate after being infected.
USA is sending thousands of "Aid workers" and plus thousands of US army troops to Ebola hot spots Ghana Liberia etc.then returning home after one week! Just told to "help transport Ebola patients".
No other orders. Then they return home still feeling fine but just days before seven day incubation period is over during which time if any USA military or civilian Aid workers who have contracted Ebola while in Africa they will have spread it to thousands on US mainland before they become sick!
Why is this going on? This is psychotic!

I did check out the virus you mentioned and couldn't help but notice Kansas is in the center of the outbreak and 475 cases have been reported in the Kansas City area.

How did you find out the whistle blower is on the run? Do you mean the author of Lab 257? What happened? Did they start coming after him? Not that I don't believe it, I just want more info.
How did you hear the other part:The US is preparing EB-D68 virus spread by central American "unaccompanied minors" being spread all over US?
That part sounds a little far-fetched to me, but maybe I'm being naive. What would the purpose be, "population control?"
Building another Plum Island in another place (or several of them)----yeesh!! Haven't they learned anything??!! Apparently not. Or they just don't care. Scary and depressing.

- To w0tm, re: EB-D68 virus quote in your post.
It's inaccurate (as there is no basis to this) - and also just terrible on the scale of being a human being - to bring the Central American children into this. There is absolutely no basis to spread such rumors, demeaning children who are literally running for their lives.
Kids in the U.S. do just fine catching all kinds of stuff usually year in and year out. We might first look at what other factors could be involved if things are out of the ordinary before resorting to hatred against any individuals and fear mongering.
Even if you did not write that originally, to pass it along (without calling it out) further perpetuates a climate of blame, hate & fear toward these kids. -

- The EB-D68 virus seems to be much worse for those youth who have asthma. This detail may be of help if anyone knows someone in that category:
. . . Even a single dose of acetaminophen can reduce the body’s levels of glutathione, a peptide that helps repair oxidative damage that can drive inflammation in the airways, researchers have found. . . . -

That's the reason you see Rush Limbaugh and the far right wing media running with this story. No basis to the story other then hate and fear of the refugee children. It can easily be found on google.

The pharmaceutical industry would love it should another epidemic start, I believe. Those "children," if you regard late teens as children, were so quickly resettled, and without the consent of the involved communities, that it's obvious that a thorough study of their contagion potential was not done.
Then there's the issue of sending 3,000 troops into ebola land. Soldiers for sickness? Thought they were for war.
I used to doubt the supposed "conspiracy theories," but I now think they were mild in comparison to reality. We may well see a day when the lyme epidemic will seem mild. And no, we do not have to keep our mouths shut because it is not P.C.
