I have faced the fact that I will never tolerate the doses need to eradicate Lyme.
As if it could be eradicated anyway.
IIRC from research - being on Abx the bugs sense a threat and go into hiding - making the patient less symptomatic?
How low could that dose be?
So I was researching prophylactic doses against infections for people with immune deficiencies - with no IVIG treatment.
The prophylactic dose for Amoxicillin was stated to be 1/3 the usual dose.
Typical Amox. daily doses in mg: 750, 1000, 1500 and for Lyme dunno - 2 grams?
I am not tolerating anything lately. But had the idea that maybe I could tolerate a low dose of something like Amox. - enough to suppress symptoms.
Throwing out a figure: would 250 mg Amox/day do that? 100mg?
FWIW I am reminded of a post on Lyme MDBlog where "someone heard" that "someone felt better on 250mg of Rocephin a day" - which was compared to a homeopathic dose.

Because the spirochetes go into hiding, why not try Rifing instead? It keeps them off-guard and you don't have to worry about destroying your gut.
Just a thought.

Is the reason you can't handle the meds is because of stomach upset?
I had relief doing IM Bicillin. It's like amoxicillin, but you do injections. I found them very helpful. I can't tolerate many antibiotics either (allergies and gut problems).
I believe 200mg of doxy keeps them from multiplying but doesn't really kill anything.

Some people that have had Lyme for years (decades even), that also can not take regular doses like you explained, take antibiotics "as needed".
They will address the most bothersome symptoms using smaller doses of what antibiotics are known to work on those symptoms, and once symptoms have improved, they take a break till the next symptoms come about.
I can not advise doing this in a medical sense (no scientific support), but do understand the need for some to do it this way, and it often works for them.
Will it cure Lyme? No. But, it can put it in remission and it could help make life less miserable some of the time.
Have you read info from the Roadback Foundation website? It's here if you are interested.
I think the dose and the choice of meds would be very individualized.
Tincup has given you some good advice.
Some patients take meds only one week out of the month. There really are no rules - just do whatever works for you.
Many people can tolerate herbs better than meds so that is another option.
I think the most important thing is to know what infections you are dealing with and then research the meds and herbs that work on those specific infections.
