I have spurts out of my urinary tract several times a day. They are not related to having to urinate. I finally got some of it with my fingers and found that it has viscosity. When I spread my fingers, It is viscous enough for there to be strings.

I've been taking d-mannose, some herbs, and ingesting olive oil and lemon juice but it has not gone away. Does anyone know what this is?

Ok. I have absolutely no clue. And would need to say see a doctor to be safe. But, a thought popped up with your description.

I once heard someone say that "strings" of inflammation were present during ob/gyn surgery, actually encasing some of the female organs- bladder/urinary tract.

Does this have anything to do with what you describe? I don't know.

The other thought- not scientific- is possibly yeast?

Hope you find the answer you need! That's all I've got on the subject.

It could be Lyme-related:

There are other articles if you do a medline search.

Thanks for the effort Tincup, but I have not had any operations since I was eight and I don't think I have yeast.

I had wondered whether there might be a lyme connection because it does not match the usual UT symptoms. If that is the case, I would need to see a lyme doc rather than an internal medicine specialist who probably wouldn't have a clue.

The ejecta does not seem to be urine, or at least not totally. Maybe a very thin mucus. There is no pain or feeling of inflammation.

Looks like the detrusor muscle, which is signaled to contract and expel urine, is controlled by the brain and I do have neuro lyme.

This is a condition that has improved with the lessening of lyme symptoms. Also, it waxes and wanes. I'll try to pay more attention to what is going on when it gets more and less frequent.

The uterus releases clear thick mucous, stringy like egg whites, when the ovaries release an egg.

This would drain from the vaginal opening, which is very close to the urethra (exit tube from the urine bladder).

Since you don't have sx like pain, pressure, fever, it's unlikely a UTI. But just in case, ask your doc to fax an order to your lab for a ua/uc.

To update, I did get rid of what was apparently a UTI using d-mannose. Using it twice a day did not do the job but when I started using it every three hours, that is what worked. Took several days.

As Carol in PA said, if you are a woman, it's normal to have mucus from the vaginal opening. I generally happens during the more fertile time of the month, then it dries up until menstruation.

What kind of d-mannose did you use? I see there are powder and pills.

I would like to try this. I've had bladder issues since reinfaction.

Never tested positive for bart, but had red tiger, stripes. That's good enough for me and my doc who said this urinary stuff is from bart.

I used the NOW brand 3 ounce bottle of d-mannose. You put a teaspoon of it in water and let it dissolve. It does not say how much water so I just used a small amount. I still have no UTI symptoms.

I'm now using YeastAway by Boiron for excess vaginal discharge. I took a course of it for a week but that did not quite stop the symptom and it came back. Now on my second course, I have no symptoms but it is too early to be sure.

Good luck.
