Hi,

I started taking quercetin for allergies and was wondering if it can cause herx? I know some sites say it can actually help with herx, but I also read it has antimicrobial properties.

Anybody else get herx type symptoms when starting quercetin? I have been taking a natural anti-histamine with nettle, quercetin, burbur and other ingredients for months and yesterday I added an additional 500 mg quercetin. Since then I have had an even more stuffy nose, head congestion, mild upper teeth pain, and muscle pain.

Thanks!

Interesting perfectly_healthy. I have been taking something called BCQ for about a month that has quercitin in it (I get about 300 mg per day of quercitin) and I often have these symptoms.

But I have had these symptoms before taking the quercitin as well. It just seems as though they have been more noticeable lately, esp. head/sinus congestion and mild dental pain).

My LLND recommended this supplement due to its anti-inflammatory effects on the brain. I'd like to hear from others on this!

Most likely, any anti-oxidant will not cause a herx - but help.

I would not call it a herx but it was just a bit strong for my weak body. I think I might have taken it alone - which is wise with something new but it's power just needed a bit of balance for me. Or a lower dose to start with to get used to it.

There are many supplements that can just be strong in their "properties" so to speak. It's who they are or what they do. And some people just get more "revved" by some supplements with strong action properties - in not in the right balance --- or on an empty stomach, especially.

And, if you have other kinds of reactions, there can be all kinds of reasons for those. It just may not be right for you. I determined that it was not the best choice for me but then found other options that turned out to be so much better for my sinus issues - which is why I started it.

Allicin & OLE worked better for my purposes there and they are also both anti-oxidants so covered more than one base.

Ultimately, though, I discovered that my body just could not tolerate DAIRY. I had already been diagnosed then with celiac and when I went gluten free so much of the sinus trouble got better. But only when I got off dairy did my sinus issues improve greatly.

Going scent free was also vital, though I was forced to do that. Powder and spray free, getting rid of fluffy bathroom mats (a cork one is perfect) . . . avoiding corduroy and chenille, etc. also vital for sinus health.

This is the only brand of Allicin or Garlic that ever did anything for me. It was always fabulous to clear sinus trouble and I could always breathe better within minutes. It really opened my airways.

While this brand is part of a larger protocol (detail below about that), it can certainly be taken alone (with food best at first to see how your stomach does with it - I could take in on an empty stomach after a while -- and not too late in the day as it can be a bit energizing).

After your initial trial, it can also be incorporated into just about any protocol.

However, you will smell of garlic to others, not so much to yourself, though. It was still worth it for me but that could be tricky for some in some situations.

This has also saved the day for me with my sinuses. Can be taken any time of the day. They also have a nasal spray but the capsules worked best from me from the inside out.
