Hello,

My body gets stiff after I have been in one position for 20 min. or longer. I always hurt worse in the morning when I first roll out of bed then I did when crawled into bed the night before.

A hot shower in the morning seems to help for a while. But as the day progresses, things seem to go down hill.

By afternoon, if I spend some time in front of the computer at work, my feet and muscles hurt when I stand up. It sometimes takes walking to the other end of the shop to limber up.

This is something that the antibiotics has not seemed to touch. Is this Lyme disease or am I suffering from something else?

So, I took my last dose of amoxicillin this morning. I have been on amoxicillin for 9 weeks out of the last 11 weeks. The symptoms are not gone.

My family doctor is working towards being a LLMD which I am very excited about. I however want to be more prepared when I go in to see him next. Should I look into getting more amoxicillin or consider changing antibiotics? I can't take doxicylene.

I am also taking a multi-vitamin, Vitamin D3, garlic, Japanese knotweed and homemade kimchi (without hot peppers).

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!! Thanks.

Are you under the care of a LLMD?

Have you ever been checked for ankylosing spondylitis? Pain that is worse upon waking and worse upon sitting still for long periods can be due to AS.

Eliminating all starches has helped a lot of people get rid of the stiffness and pain. Eliminating all gluten, dairy, soy and grains as well has been a real game changer for me.

You may want to read more about it to see if it is a possibility for you.

Amoxicillin alone is not enoughto treat lyme. You really need to try to see an established LLMD that is up to date on protocols.

I agree with above posters.

That is great your doc is wanting to be an LL.

The more the better!

In the meantime though, it sounds like you are suffering.

Oh yes, it will very much still be lyme.

Amox alone will not effectively treat all forms of lyme.

If your doc is open and eager, perhaps take a copy of Dr. B's guidelines to your next appointment.

Most of us doing the Dr. B protocol find 3-5 antibiotics are needed simultanteously to treat lyme.

Also coinfections will need to be addressed.

I have an IR sauna. It helps with the stiffness.

I think there is portable IR saunas available.

Take care

How much amoxy were you on? Most docs will use too low of a dose. My LLMD had me on almost 8000 mg per day along with Probenecid to keep it in my bloodstream longer. Yes, 8000, that's not a typo.

Also, amoxy does not cover any coinfections you might have, nor the other two forms of borrelia.

I, personally, prefer alternative medicine for Lyme treatment, but if you're going with conventional antibiotics, you need to be sure you're covering it all.

9 weeks is not long enough to clear most cases of Lyme. Been checked for coinfections?

Be sure to look into magnesium. Taking Vit D will lower magnesium in the body and so will most medications.

Also look into your diet... avoid gluten, dairy, sugar and most grains.

Hello,

I don't know where to begin. Internet is down at home and we have been short handed at work this week.

My family doctor told my dad that he was going to a Lyme disease seminar. This was a couple weeks before the ILADS seminar in DC. I am thinking that is the seminar he was planning on attending.

I have never heard of ankylosing spondylitis. I do know that 10 years ago when I was dealing with my first round of Lyme, My back hurt worse come morning then it did the night before. It hurt constantly through out the day and the chiropractor could not seem to work his usual magic on my back. I had forgotten about that when I wrote my email.

My amoxycillin was a low dose. I think 1500 mg a day.

I will write more tomorrow

The stiffness makes m wonder about magnesium, whether you're getting enough.

I take turmeric powder which I put in capsules and that takes down pain in muscles and joints and helps me move easier. Turmeric is a good anti-inflammatory.

Have you had your cortisol and thyroid levels bloodtested? Thyroid - TSH, T3. They can also be majorly impacted and need to be normalized for your body to function better.
