What does it mean if your EBV Ab VCA, IgG is high but IgM is normal? My 19 year old son had mono in junior high. He is now feeling worse and sleeping a lot after some response to Lyme treatment and viruses. Some believe it is an indicator or reactivated EBV. Wondering if seeing an immunologist would be helpful. Are there more tests that should be done? Any advice? K

Viruses can go crazy when you have Lyme. Some people find relief with stuff like valtrex (I didn't).
To be honest, not a lot of us have had luck with immunologists. Unless they're an LLmd, they just don't understand the Lyme aspect.
Go if you want, it just might be another opinion to consider or you might get the "rolled-eyes" thing. I had one immunologist say to me when I asked to get tested for Lyme, "People who think they have Lyme don't and the ones that do don't know it." He refused to test me for Lyme.
I've had 4 positive tests since then...it really depends on the doc's Lyme education.
My doc says my body should be able to take care of all the viruses once the Lyme is under control (I have several active infections).
