I wanted to see if anybody here has had a similar experience as my 3 yr old son who is in very rough shape.
He got a fever of 103.8 6 days ago and it never went away. There were periods when the temp went low grade but it always spikes back after a short while. Right now the fever's almost 104 despite tylenol and motrin and he acts delirious sometimes.
His hand and feet pains he's had since infancy have become greatly amplified in this fever. And there's a new pain that has started in his eyes where he screams for us to massage his eyes.
We took him to urgent care on the weekend and they said it looks like a viral fever and sent us home with nothing.
Today the pediatrician saw him and said the same thing - no strep, no ear infection so it must be viral. She also ordered blood tests and there were no diagnostic markets for bacterial infection.
So we're about to go into day 7 of him screaming in pain with dangerously high fevers and no doctor is willing to do anything.
By the way he stopped his LLMD treatment a couple of months ago and is not currently on any abx.
Do you guys think this is Lyme rearing its ugly head?
If so I will be calling my LLMD to put my son on abx. It's got to be better than what the peditrician wants to do - which is nothing!

I am very sorry your son is suffering so much. Does he have Babesia? I think it is very possible the Lyme and/or Babesia is resurfacing. He definitely should be evaluated by his Lyme doctor.
I hope he feels better soon.

going to call his LLMD today. But not sure if I will get through without an appointment.
I do have some Byron White herbs at home and also some tinctures from my son's LLND. Might give those a try.

Hi yanivnaced, If I remember correctly, the doctors (PCP’s), Primary Care Physicians become concerned after 7days of someone with a fever with no diagnoses.
Chances are his LLMD will not have an appointment today, but a phone call shouldn’t hurt. Maybe he’ll at least talk to you over a phone conversation.
Since it’s been 7 days I would definitely call his PCP as early as possible.
Be careful self treating your young child.
I hope he feels better soon, I hate seeing kids suffer!!!

So I took him to a another pediatric urgent care clinic today. We spent about 4 hours there. It involved two botched vein punctures and a catheter insertion for urine sample.
They ran the blood tests onsite and same conclusion - WBC reveals no infection, and no ear or strep infections. So we were sent home with the same old viral diagnosis and no meds.
The PCP wants to see him again on Monday if fever still persists, which I am sure it will. That will be day 11. I am guessing she will refer me to some sort of specialist at that point.
My head is spinning with all this stuff. There's the ever worsening rheumatoid arthritis, this crazy fever, and my new concerns about his severe pains behind his eyes (brain tumor perhaps???), oh and I forgot the Lyme that did not respond to multiple strong abx. Why not just bring him to a childrens hospital? A fever going on for that long needs a full workup andcthat would be the best placd to do it. Urgent care centers can be good for some things but this is not one of them.
If his fever is still elevated despite fever lowering meds, he has no interest in foods, drinking, playing with toys then I would bring him now.
They have all the right equipment as well asthe expertise of evaluating children. I spent many nights in the ER of a Childrens Hospital with my kids. Better safe than sorry.
