There's a new film out about fibro patients doing well with taking it, something like Fibromyalgia - Getting Our Lives Back.
Given that my fibro turned out to be Lyme, anyone know any reasons why guaifenesin might be a successful treatment for Lyme?

There was a book written a long time ago about this. It was very high dose guai. I had history of pulmonary doc giving me guai prescription-higher dose than otc
I continue to use high dose guai if i have any hint of lung problem. (My chronic broncitis went away when i moved away from school with bad air) but i am still very sensitive and small amounts of mold or cig smoke or chemicals will set me off
I have thought about it over the years because i do feel better on it and i know some ppl feel awful on it
One of my sons will be all hyper from it-unable to sleep at all and hes a big guy-very athletic
I think guai us supposed to break down bio film and then tx can kill bugs better and that might be why ppl with "fibromyalgia" feelbetter on it
Ppl who have trouble with it might be herxing

I tried it on doctor's glowing recommendation. Did absolutely nothing for me. Doctor actually got angry when I told him that. Pig.

When the Guaifenesin protocol first came out, the "experts" said people had to avoid salicylates (aspirin, peppermint, a bunch of other foods & herbs) for it to work for Fibromyalgia.

I think in and of itself, guaifenesin doesn't do much even though people do abuse it but as a potentiator for other drugs or herbs is effective.
I remember taking it for "small nerve neuropathy" My dr. told me to take DayQuil. It did help but only cause it was packaged with acetaminophen.
I think as long as it's not mixed with DXM or acetaminophen, it's worth a shot.

Beyond short term for clearing a chest cold, it's not likely to help much. I tried it for a while but then the ulcer it caused forced me to stop. Still, other than that brief respite, it did not help reduce body pain.
Years after that, I applied for a formal study of FM and G. I was rejected because of the "ulcer history" and how G. could do that again. It at least solved that part of the puzzle as to why my stomach blew out when it did.
Berberine has been a far, far better one to help reduce body pain for me. And it has far better other effects, too:
I just did a little more checking on this - it's based on Dr St. Amand's work. I watched a short film on it - says the kidneys do not expel phoshates properly and taking guai makes this happen.
Haven't had time to look into it further. I sent the organizer of the film showing a note about my fibro being Lyme.

Husband and I did this protocol for a long time. The book also recognized hypoglycemia (though mine is more insulin dysregulation, I go between hypo and hyperglycemia, typical for us) as a contributing factor, and recommended a low-carb diet to prevent insulin spikes.
The guai did nothing but the diet was a turning point for me.
Yes to what Razzle said. You had to avoid topical salicylates (basically any natural product) and herbal supplements, which was a pain.

Interestingly enough I tried this awhile back and was shocked to find my chronic SI joint pain completely vanished. I had to stop tking it and Im trying to remember why. I think it was causing stomach issues.

It could be if someone with biofilm and bugs in biofilm takes quai it breaks down biofilm and if immune system is string enough or if some thing else you are doing can kill bugs then you could feel better
