just wondering if anyone has experienced gradual and at times acute weight loss?

my weight has essentially been dropping now for the past 3 years

my neck is evidently thinner now, strange and rather frightening

infected since 1993

Yes, I had weight loss and terrible gut problems.

Parasite treatment stopped the weight loss and I gained 10 pounds back. Then I spent a couple years rebuilding my gut with fermented foods.

I heard this happens.

I gained weight like over night from mine. 20 pounds and was eating less.

I got really sick with tx an dlost 30 very quickly. but now gained some back and feeling better.

my mom can't gain weight. she is pretty thin. she has trouble , but now finally after 20 years is drinking bottled water and says how her system has changed, so maybe she will get better with her EBS.

she lives near a known polluted water area and thought a cheap filter on faucet was enough, but it was only on cold and they stil use hot water for stuff. sigh.

do you have any sx like EBS? or something else?

I dropped 2lbs a day when i became acutely ill, 2 weeks after having been bitten by a tick. When i was down 40lbs a couple of weeks later the weight loss halted. Now on some antibiotics i seem to gain weight again. For me its a combination of aggressive babs and bart treatment.
On other abx i can just as easily start loosing weight again without changing my diet.

thanks for response,

LisaK, what is EBS? do you mean IBS?

if thats what you mean, well Ive been told a few times over last 15 years that I have irritable bowel syndrome and Candida

does your mother have Lyme/Babs/Bart also?

sixgoofykids, yes I have horrible gut issues, just started on homemade kefir

have gone through two parasite removal remedies over last 8 years but no significant changes

what anti-parasite treatment did you use?

sorry yes, IBS.

my mom has tick disease sx. she has had many ticks attached, lives in a very lyme area. where she lives they just culled all the deer because of the epidemic.

she has lyme as far as I'm concerned. and probably many other 'things'. she has all the key sx. and she realizes she probably has it, just is one that 'lives' with it. ..... until one day- like some of us here....

I gained weight like crazy until I started treating bartonella and lyme at the same time. I exercised like crazy, and always watched what I ate. But kept gaining.

Then I started treating bart and lyme.
Then I was losing about 2-5 pounds a week for the duration of the treatment. I was 200, then dropped to 168. My body felt good at 168.

When the heavy duty treatment stopped, and before my relapse it was stable.

Relapse: Gained 10 pounds in one week. The extra inflammation.

I don't have an appetite so I don't eat much.

So I must be gaining weight when I look at food, haha.

Anyways, I believe ongoing infections cause either drastic weight gain, or drastic weight loss.

Are you eating adequate amounts of protein at each meal?

I would try adding a bit more protein to each meal, and a handful of nuts or seeds for good fats.

Maybe that will help?

I'm sorry you are experiencing the weight loss.

Do you feel you may have relapsed?

Sending a cyberhug your way.

GretaM,

Yes Im eating protein foods for sure and lots of nuts

my weight has always been proportionate to my height/body structure [6f 1"]

I can recall about 7 and 8 years ago my weight went to the highest it had ever been [222 pounds] at a time when I was doing well as regards Lyme/Bartonella symptoms

last 2 years large array of symptoms have recurred and weight steadily dropping

how are you doing yourself?

cyberhug to you also

I've lost 10 lbs since I started treatment in late Spring. I basically weigh what I did in High School and everyone says how I'm "looking good". Yet the last thing I care about now is being thin! Normal and healthy sounds pretty good right now! (-:
