I just finished my 10 days of flagyl and cipro. I am taking florastor and critical care twice a day. so far so good and no signs of c diff. I'm terrified of that stuff.

I would like to start some kind of yeast or fungal program. I don't think the diet alone is effective enough.

I was given a bottle of fungal defense and garlic pills but have not taken them. I literally have to beg for diflucan but I don't think I'll get it.

I don't want to stress my system and go though another goshawful er visit where my bp goes skyrocketing.

is fungal defense any good or it it too soon? how long should I take the probiotics?

HMF Replete. It helped fix my gut after levaquin and prednisone (I was in hell for 2 years trying to fix it with diet alone, I agree diet isn't enough).

GI suggestions in this book helped me after being floxed by levaquin the last time.

GI stuff starts on page 36:

SUPPLEMENTSand ADVANCED TREATMENTS for LYME and ASSOCIATED DISEASES

It's on Amazon. I got it from my ND originally.

It has FOS and there are some intestinal bacteria that it feeds (like Klebsiella pneumoniae). Genestra makes a probiotic without FOS if it's a concern.

Info on what FOS feeds in the last paragraph here:

http://www.food-allergy.org/root3.html

Since no antibiotics right now, I'm taking probiomax 30 billion for maintenance (one week on, one week off, alternating with saccharomyces boulardii).

No yeast issues. I took Thorne SF722 for about a month after the levaquin. I'm not on any antifungals and am doing fine in the gut department now.

Randi, if you ask me, i don't think you need to stress about not getting difulcan. at least for me, difulcan (repeated uses of it over 2 years) didn't do anything permanent for my candida. it helped for a few days each time i took it, but candida would just come right back.

sure i think it's fine to take antifungals while also taking probiotics. i do it. the antifungals go after the candida, not the probiotics.

Sonatina, thanks for the list!! i miss sourdough bread...

"can you take antifungals like fungal defense or something if you are on probiotics?"

Just take them a couple hours away from each other.
