I just started Bicillin shots - ouch! I get huge lumps at the injection site and a painful hot red rash that gets larger over the following days and then fades. I also develop a fever of 101 at night after are days.

Is this a herx or am I allergic to the med? I was dxd with ALS 5 years ago and take IVIG twice a month as well. I am allergic to rocephin but did a picc line with it for 9 months.

I have trouble breathing so when it gets worse I try a new med. Last night my breathing was much better. The shots hurt but they seem to be helping.

Sounds like a herx, my first bicillin shot I had 103 fever, vomiting and full body toxic rash 24 hours later, followed by relief. The more shots I did the less intense the reaction. Bicillin is amazing. Massage the lumps as tolerated and use a heating pad But if you get other symptoms suggestive of allergy, let your doctor know

I too ran a fever with my first few doses of Bicillin.

The herxing was also powerful and yes, it's a more painful shot than most.

If you call your doctor, he or she may prescribe some numbing agents, both on the skin and also some that can go in with the Bicillin.

Still won't be painfree, but it definitely makes it more tolerable.

Don't forget to keep changing where you put it for your own comfort.
