Hi guys,

Could any of you suggest some very good probiotic brands?

I've been considering pb8, which I've taken in the past. It was decent, but I now have some pretty bad gastro problems which I'll detail in a new post.

I plan to take S Boullardi as well, if it's o to take alongside PBX.

I have very little knowledge of probiotics. I unfortunately left my gut as a low consideration in my years of treatment and I am starting to suffer big time.

As always I am trying to get the biggest bang for my bucks , since I am freakin broke.
Thanks!

We've used Healthy Origns, which is shelf stable and 30 billion CFU's per capsule. It comes 150 doses for $35.41 on Amazon.

Also like Vitacost's Probiotic 15-35 (15 strains, 35 bill CFU), it's a little more pricey at $16.33 for 30 doses when not on sale.

Prescript-Assist is a soil based probiotic and purported to be one of the best, but it is more expensive than most.

We also take S. Boulardii which is the friendly yeast probiotic in Florastor, but the Jarrow brand from Amazon which is much cheaper. Cheapest per dose is the big bottle, 180 count for $28.75.

My current favorite is home made milk kefir. You can probably get grains for free from someone that makes kefir, you just have to buy the milk to feed the kefir. It contains many strains of both beneficial yeasts and probiotic bacteria and is very easy to care for. Kefir grows very quickly, and you can eat the excess grains for a big probiotic dose.

ProHealth's Probiotic Extreme 50 Billion:

https://www.prohealth.com/shop/product.cfm/product__code/PH480

Ultimate Flora Critical Care 50 Billion. It is pricier and is the same price at Vitacost, Vitamin Shoppe and Swanson:

I also use the Jarrow brand of S. Boulardii:

Custom Probiotics CP-1 is VERY cost effective and WAY more effective than PB8.

The Prescript Assist is very good too.

My favorites are Theralac and VSL#3.

Neither are in the lower price range, but something I would do would be to get several others as well and rotate.

My LLMD always said it was good to swap around anyway.

I use the brands by Klaire:

The Ther-Bitoic complete, S. Boulardii, and vitalzymes.

I am also fond of Jarrows brands.

My family and I love PB8. It's very reasonably priced and has us kept us good for over a decade.

PB8 has a proprietary formula that keeps it stable much more so than most other acidophilus.

my new ND just started me on Natrol brand bioBeads..

I am not sure what is supposed to happen with them, but I think I do feel better in the elimination department.

actually I feel better than when I took some really expensive kind from the healthy food store.
