My tooth has been hurting a lot. i have to go to dentist very soon. There are not many abx i tolerate well but i am sure i will have to take some for my tooth.
I am guessing doxy won't work for an infected tooth? i tolerate doxy best.
What abx work for an infected tooth, so i know before i go to dentist?
i am allergic to penicillin, would that automatically rule out amoxicillin?

We used to mostly prescribe Doxy or Amox if it wasn't a bad infection. Never gave out Flagyl, sometimes Biaxin if there were allergies. It really depended on the patient and if they had reactions to some drugs.

Flagyl is used for tooth infection. Because it really kills Anaerobic bacteria. They are bacteria that do not live or grow in the presence of oxygen.

Clindamycin is the best for oral bone infections . It is the only one that is absorbed into bone and is the best for lymies. 2 days before three days after for extraction or root canal Some people with active Lyme take it for all dental procedures. The mouth is not sterile and bacteria can get into blood stream with cleanings and some fillings
