My dr. put me on A LOT of antibiotics at once and my stomach just cant handle it. He told me to keep it up but I literally can't swallow another pill (bad burning in my throat and stomach) I want to try another dr. and treatment plan. I really want to go totally herbal, antibiotics always destroys my stomach. Which one has worked the best for you?

Myself, I refuse to take doxy ever again. The nausea is torture. I have tolerated most other antibiotics fairly well - incl Biaxin, minocycline, azithromycin, tetracycline, Omnicef, ceftin, plaquenil, Tindamax, penicillin, rifampin. Important to take with food and plenty of water unless you are told must be taken on empty stomach.
Interestingly, the problem I have with minocycline and tetracycline is that they give me ravenous appetite and food cravings which are uncontrollable. Then my LLMD would scold me for gaining weight!!!!
Hope others will comment about herbals. I have tried a few. All were tolerable except for cryptolepis which was like drinking gasoline.

- When considering herbal / nutritional / adjunct methods, because lyme is so very complex & unique, as are possible coinfections:
if at all possible - because each person & each case is different - it's best to consult with an ILADS-educated LL ND (lyme literate naturopathic doctor) (or similar) who has completed four years of post-graduate medical education in the field of herbal and nutritional medicine -
- and someone who is current with ILADS' research & presentations, past and present, and has completed the ILADS Physician Training Program (see: www.ilads.org )
so they really know all they can about the science of lyme . . . how lyme (& other TBD) act and what we can do about that in various ways.
Many LL NDs incorporate antibiotics (depending upon the licensing laws in their state). Some LLMDs and LL NDs have good working relationships.
When possible, it's great to have both a LLMD and LL ND and even better when they have a long-standing professional relationship.
Herbal Safety considerations & reference books; etc.
Links to many articles and books by holistic-minded LL doctors of various degrees who all have this basic approach in common:
Understanding of the importance of addressing the infection(s) fully head-on with specific measures from all corners of medicine;
knowing which supplements have direct impact, which are only support and which are both.
You can compare and contrast many approaches with links to articles, books, methods . . .
BODY WORK methods / links (and why anyone who works on your spine MUST be LL to the degree they at least know to never suddenly twist neck or spine. Never. Ever. And that we should never be advised to do neck / head / shoulder stands.) -

I'm seeing a traditional Chinese Medicine doctor who's a teacher of herbology at a school. He's not expensive either. $45 a visit. I'm getting better. No more antibiotics for me.
If you go this route you need the kind who does custom formulas, not pills.
I'd see the best person that you can get to.

Abx ruined my gut and it's never been the same since. I can't eat even close to what I was eating before I took abx. If I could go back in time and undo this I would.
I wish I had tried herbs and salt/c protocol. Buhner herbs are good. I take them everyday as well as Byron White, Cowden and more.
There are also other alternative things you can try like rife, ozone, asyra, pemf, photons, mild HBOT, ondamed, Buhner, FIR sauna, acupuncture, MMS, salt/c protocol. I haven't tried them all but the ones I have are helping.

I am trying to go w/o antibiotics. I did go several months w/o taking any.
Last week however gave in and did injectables. Bicillin LA and Cefriaxone. (Just one of each - days a part - FWIW)
I don't want to swallow any more antibiotics.
I am seriously thinking about Salt/C again.
Past months I have been using essential oils. Topically and inhaled. Mostly Frankincense. Also others. Some folks think they help. I am inclined to think they do.

You guys are great, thank you! I need to find a dr. who is not all about antibiotics and not super expensive...very hard to find!. I did try Cowden at one point but didn't think it was doing anything, didn't herx at all. I can go back to that but would love to try Buhner or Byron white. Can I do Buhner on my own or do I need a Dr. to get these herbs from?
