My 15 year old stated artemesinin 7 days ago and has had diarreah for 7 days. It does cause diarreah but, do you just deal with it, treat it or stop taken it?

Having diarrhea for 7 days in a row is not good. It can lead to dehydration, passing out and falling over and hurting yourself, etc.

So, if it was prescribed by a doctor, I would call the doc and tell him what is going on and I would stop it.

When my lyme doc had me take art, he had me take it only 3 days in a row every week.

If you take art continuously, it will become ineffective after about 2 weeks. That is because the intestines will begin to make an enzyme that blocks it.

So, the lyme doctors that I know don't have their patients take it for long periods at a time.

I got rid of babs by taking Bactrim DS and the art in a pulsed fashion. That was 10 years ago now.

To help with diarrhea, try taking Floristor or another less expensive brand of saccharomyces boulardii probiotics.
