Just wondering, why not combine Samento and Banderol with ABX such as Minocycline and Tindamax? Wouldn't they only serve to attack the Lyme even better, or are there contraindications of some kind for taking all of those things?

I take Samento/Banderol and Minocycline/Zithromax. I'm not sure if I'm throwing money away taking all those things, but I'm not feeling worse taking them all (other than the initial herx for a few weeks).

I took Buhner herbs when I was on antibiotics. Plenty of people do combine the two. The initial advice was that the Cowden herbs were intended to be standalone, but again, plenty of people on a few Cowden herbs or even the whole protocol do combine them with antibiotics.
You could ask Nutramedix what their current line is on this if you are concerned.

- Combination are often used by some LLMDs and most LL NDs.
But it's important to know as much as possible about the nature, properties, propensities of each Rx or herb being used and how they work alone and also with others, specific others -- and which are support and which are direct action, so to speak.
Some should not be combined, or timed just so to not interfere with each other . . . while some do best at a duo, hand-in-hand.
Liver support is ALWAYS vital, absolutely essential for anyone in treatment, whether that is just Rx to target infections, herbs or a combination. And liver support usually includes herbs.
Adrenal support is also key, also usually with herbs, but also with other nutrients as well.
When considering herbal / nutritional / adjunct methods, because lyme is so very complex & unique, as are possible coinfections:
if at all possible - because each person & each case is different - it's best to consult with an ILADS-educated LL ND (lyme literate naturopathic doctor) (or similar) who has completed four years of post-graduate medical education in the field of herbal and nutritional medicine -
- and someone who is current with ILADS' research & presentations, past and present, and has completed the ILADS Physician Training Program (see: www.ilads.org )
so they really know all they can about the science of lyme . . . how lyme (& other TBD) act and what we can do about that in various ways.
Many LL NDs incorporate antibiotics (depending upon the licensing laws in their state). Some LLMDs and LL NDs have good working relationships.
When possible, it's great to have both a LLMD and LL ND and even better when they have a long-standing professional relationship.
Herbal Safety considerations & reference books; etc.
Links to many articles and books by holistic-minded LL doctors of various degrees who all have this basic approach in common:
Understanding of the importance of addressing the infection(s) fully head-on with specific measures from all corners of medicine;
knowing which supplements have direct impact, which are only support and which are both.
You can compare and contrast many approaches with links to articles, books, methods . . .
BODY WORK methods / links (and why anyone who works on your spine MUST be LL to the degree they at least know to never suddenly twist neck or spine. Never. Ever. And that we should never be advised to do neck / head / shoulder stands.) -

I herxed and herxed on Nutramedix cumanda, samento, and banderol with no progress for 10 months.
On doxycycline I felt slightly better in 10 days. On Ceftin, Flagyl, and nystatin I improved in 6 months, although it took me 18 months to feel like I could have a life again.
Start with the big guns (abx) and move on to the herbs for maintenance.

I was cured with Mino/Tindy/Artemisinin , twice, both in 2010 and 2012, in 3 months the second time. Pulsed of course to keep the Art working.
Had Borrelia/Babs/filarial nematodes but had to take Ivermectin for the nematodes.
I have been completely 100% symptom free for 3 years now!
Feel 35 now at 66, too.
I still eat 3-5 apricot kernels a day tho. They completely got rid of a lifetime of allergies!
