We found a tick crawling outside and have it in a plastic bag.
Where do we send it for testing?

- Some can bite their way out of a plastic bag. Put it in a glass or very hard plastic container, like an old pill bottle -- just be sure the top is very sturdy and they can't crawl and hide in crevices that might be in the lid.
Beyond that, I hope others will have answers for you. Freezing may be an option. -

I did stick the bag in the freezer. Figured it won't get far if its frozen!

I used to put them in a jar of alcohol as I found them. It would get so full by the end of the summer. Gross!
I never did test any that were on me. Was never treated either. Big mistake. I now live in a condo and my cats stay indoors. No more alcohol jar!

If it didn't bite anybody, why test it?

Do not waste you time testing the ticks. We saved the tick that bit our son and had it tested for everything through Igenex. It all came back negative.
We also had our son tested at Igenex and he had bartonella and borellia (lyme).
Save your money.
