It's been awhile since I posted anything. Was very ill 5 years ago. Quit working and did oral antibiotics. Have been working again for four years and managing. Had some stress recently (Nov. - Jan.) and had some symptoms return.
Doctor requested that I do testing again. IGENEX IGG showed Band 39 IND, 41 + and 58 ++
Now I've spent all the money for testing and she says it's not much. From what I read, with those test results and symptoms, some would say I have lyme.
She wants me to do Antigen therapy where they inject proteins of many different bacteria, etc. under the skin in hopes that your body learns to react to them without over reacting. (?)
It would mean traveling to get injected once every 8 weeks possibly for one year.
Any thoughts? Yes, she considers herself a LLMD.

- She is not a LLMD.
Please do not do those injections of pathogens. The potential for risk is huge for someone in your position.
Find a real ILADS educated LLMD, if at all possible. [And, I know that is not, as you write you just do not have the money. See next post, then.]
When you treated, did you follow the Burrascano protocol? Combination and not just antibiotics but also other classifications of Rx?
And did you treat for a full two months after reaching a good solid remission?
Where other tick borne infections also considered? -

- You likely have no money to see a LL ND, either. Yet ask around, see you is near you and inquire as to the possibilities.
Still, this is an annotated bibliography of sorts and there are some things here that you may be able to do on your own. Still, with the same mindset as any LL doctor:
assertively address infection(s) head on
while supporting
- When considering herbal / nutritional / adjunct methods, because lyme is so very complex & unique, as are possible coinfections:
if at all possible - because each person & each case is different - it's best to consult with an ILADS-educated LL ND (lyme literate naturopathic doctor) (or similar) who has completed four years of post-graduate medical education in the field of herbal and nutritional medicine -
- and someone who is current with ILADS' research & presentations, past and present, and has completed the ILADS Physician Training Program (see: www.ilads.org )
so they really know all they can about the science of lyme . . . how lyme (& other TBD) act and what we can do about that in various ways.
Many LL NDs incorporate antibiotics (depending upon the licensing laws in their state). Some LLMDs and LL NDs have good working relationships.
When possible, it's great to have both a LLMD and LL ND and even better when they have a long-standing professional relationship.
Herbal Safety considerations & reference books; etc.
Links to many articles and books by holistic-minded LL doctors of various degrees who all have this basic approach in common:
Understanding of the importance of addressing the infection(s) fully head-on with specific measures from all corners of medicine;
knowing which supplements have direct impact, which are only support and which are both.
You can compare and contrast many approaches with links to articles, books, methods . . .
BODY WORK methods / links (and why anyone who works on your spine MUST be LL to the degree they at least know to never suddenly twist neck or spine. Never. Ever. And that we should never be advised to do neck / head / shoulder stands.) -

Thank you for your responses. I didn't really explain everything. I've seen this doctor for 5 years. When my symptoms returned in the last 3 months I got concerned and she said I needed to do all the testing again. I don't want to spend money on things not necessary, but she's the one treating me.
I take many supplements to build the immune system, etc., LDN and estrogen and progesterone. I am walking daily (recently adopted a dog). I was doing yoga and will get back into it.
I didn't stop working and only took a couple days off this last time when I was ill.
The thing is, I have read many books on lyme recently, Dr. H and another. I believe I have or have had many symptoms of lyme and co-infections. Along with that and the most recent lyme test, I expected my doctor to discuss options.
I did take oral antibiotics for over 2 years, mainly doxycycline. I've suffered since I was first hospitalized with strange symptoms 25+ years ago. I have improved by eating right, exercising, getting sleep, etc.
I guess I don't know if I should just go on as I am, or if I should try to treat lyme and co- inf. even though I'm feeling well right now.
I appreciate your advice. I didn't think the antigen thing sounded like a good idea.
