There was an essential oil summit online recently. They went over so much in the 30+ speaker series. If you're all interested, it can be purchased. www.healthyoilsummit.com. I just looked at the site - it's possible you can listen to five speakers for free if you register.
Many of us are chem sensitive, so we might have a hard time handling them. I'd say it's probably a matter of how well we detox as to whether we can use essential oils, would be my guess.

I used them for about 2 yrs and then crashed. Now I can't use them at all. I think I overloaded my body.

Yes, I use a few essential oils. They have been a lifesaver for me. Here is what i use:
Peppermint oil -- rub on forehead for headaches. It works!
Wintergreen - rub undiluted on shoulders and neck fro pain
Eucalyptus - rub on throat / chest during cold. Rub on wrists to help sleep
Clove - gargle diluted to help kill oral candida. or put a drop in tea. I also rub (diluted) on toes for neuropathic pain. Also great for toothaches.
lemon oil - mix with other oils for headache. add a drop or two to water for refreshing beverage

I was just dx'd w/Lyme a bit over 2 months ago, and I've been on an e. oil protocol as follows:
Tea tree, clove, oregano, cassia, thyme oils -- 3 drops each in an empty capsule, 2x/day.
PLEASE DON'T try this at home with just any essential oil! So far, I know of only one e. oil company who's testing is so rigorous and oils so pure that they can be taken internally. And not all their oils can be taken internally, either.
I started this oil protocol on my own, after much research and having tried the oregano oil alone, before ordering the others. My leg muscles had been getting somewhat weak and I was no longer able to exercise, but after two days on the oregano oil, I could barely walk, and even then needed help.
Actually that day I couldn't walk at all for awhile, then later that day was able to for a few seconds at a time. The next day, day 3 on the oregano oil, was just as bad. Day 4 was better, day 5 better yet. And on day 6 I was able to drive myself to town and run 2 errands -- something I hadn't been able to do for weeks.
About a week after that I had my 2nd app't. with my new Lyme doc, to get the results of tests and a treatment plan. I'd been keeping a log of my symptoms and self-treatment and brought them in for her. When she read about what had happened, she said it was a classic herx reaction, that Lyme patients get.
Well, not that all Lyme patients get so weak they can't walk, but, she said, after about 2-4 days and abx, they often get worse, then began to get better (she neglected to tell me that these herx things happen quite frequently!). She liked the oil protocol (and the reaction to it!) so much, she declined to put me on abx just yet, as the oils are functioning as natural abx.
Actually oregano and others have been proven to have strong abx and anti-viral properties. Still, she put me on Acyclovir for E.B. virus and whatever that one's called that causes Roseola. And an herbal anti-viral. She wanted to see me again in 6 weeks and said that during that time, she'll contact the oil co.'s docs and see if she could pick their brains about their other oils that people have used for Lyme.
That app't. is coming up next week, so we'll see what happens.....

I listened to half of that EO summit and I was impressed. You got to listen free when they first put it on.
I've had an ear issue for years. Don't know whether it was lyme connected but around my ear and much of that side of my head was frequently swollen as well as lymph glands, also irritation and tinnitus. Two ear specialists couldn't find a problem.
An ear, nose, throat guy was a speaker at the summit. He uses tea tree oil in his practice and he said to put it around the ear and it was okay to drop it in the ear if the eardrum is not perforated. Putting it in the ear really made a difference and the swelling, etc. seems to be gone. There is still a slight ringing. I've been doing this in the past week so too early to be definitive but I'm feeling pretty confident that it's gone.

Continuing, I finished the Buhner babesia protocol less than 2 weeks ago. The pressure on top of my head continued as well as the headaches. Since I seemed to be having success with the ear issue, I started putting antimicrobial oils on top of my head. These included tea tree, oregano, eucalyptus, patchouli.
Looking on the internet, I saw a report that said that thyme oil effected babesia. That is a strong oil so I put it on the bottom of my feet and it was effective. Again, early in the game, but the perpetual headaches seem to be gone.
The only oil I ingested was a drop of bergamont in a cup of black tea. That was supposed to make it taste like Earl Gray. Won't do that again.
Looking on this site, I ran into some posts by Farah who used EOs for lyme. Here is the link:
