I have had chronic hellish problems for the last ten years. The doctors in Nebraska have told me that my mental symptoms are mental illness and my physical symptoms are psychosomatic. It has only been the last few weeks that I had stumbled upon Lyme information and it all makes so much sense. My appt with an LLMD is months away.

My question is... If I do indeed have Lyme (which I am pretty confident I do), is there even anything a doctor can do with a 10-20 year old infections? Am I screwed? Do I ever have a chance of getting my health and personality back? I literally have not laughed in 3 years...

Absolutely!! You CAN get well!! I had Lyme and babesia for 42 yrs before getting a diagnosis and treatment. I've been well for 11 years now.

I hope you will be seeing the great doc in Missouri!!

Lyme info you can trust:

Yes, you can get better!! Lots of people will attest to years of symptoms prior to finding out.

If your appt is months away, am wondering whether you might be able to find someone else to see any sooner? Just a question.

Treatment lands in three areas - kill/deter the organisms, detox, and fortify the body. You could take this time now to start studying what all people do.

You can also use the Search function at the top of the page and type in any word or phrase and archived threads will come up. Just remember we're all different when it comes to what remedies work for us.

Would knowing that people have dressed as giant ticks to get the point across get you to laugh? Don't look now, but there's a huge tick following you down the street - it's Godzilla Tick!!

I once gave a tick talk before the SF Board of Supervisors on Halloween!! I had just found out about an SF-acquired infection and I was alarmed.

So I made a tick out of a pillowcase wrapped in four black bags, each bag tied to make two little tick legs, so 8 total. Then I dressed in black.

I went to City Hall and forgot that they check everything that enters. They wanted to open it up but I explained I was going to use it as a prop. They then asked to X-ray it to make sure there was nothing inside it. I said, "Sure, but I don't think you'll find any spirochetes inside." I'm sure they did not understand my joke!

Once inside, at public comment, I went to the mic, threw a black veil over my face, and proceeded to have Tick tell them it had bitten someone in San Francisco, in a backyard! The pres of the board thanked Tick for its PSA.
