I'm a couple of months in, and I still feel as bad as I did when I started. In fact, nothing has really changed. I don't think I've even herxed yet.

Since my symptoms are mostly joint related (joint popping), fatigue, and muscle twitching, I'm curious what a herx would even feel like?

I felt a little better starting a few weeks in. Not much though.

Sometimes improvement is so slight that it can be hard to tell. I found it was helpful to chart my symptoms and how much activity I could handle, or to ask my husband if he noticed any improvement.

When improvement is going from feeling really awful to awful, I found it was sometimes hard to notice improvement even when it was there.

Took me about 18 months to turn the corner on it.

Head up! [group hug]

It took me about a year and a half, too.

I also charted my symptoms, so I could begin to see even small improvements. That helped my state of mind.

It took me 18 months, as well, to see improvement. It helps finding the right abx and the correct doses which will speed things along.

It took me about a week to feel I was back to the world of humans. I didn't treat with abx though.

I could be in the sunlight again without fainting, I could even walk a bit. Till one week before starting dr. K's treatment, I couldn't.

From then on, my improvement was slower, with ups and downs.

Later (some months later) I discovered how much binders were important, and that changed a great deal too (I just kept adding binders, until I felt good).

At that point, I didn't even mind to be so sick with lyme. At least, I could even feel good some hours a day, after taking binders. Then binder effect would fade, I feel crap again, I take again more binders, then life was fine.

It is not the infection exactly that makes us feeling crap, but toxins.

A herx made me feel really tired. I had to back off of the amount of abx I was taking.

You could even address these symptoms with supplements, like a magnesium type for the muscle twitching.

I take bulk turmeric for my joints - I dip empty 00-size capsules into what I get at the health food store.

And try different things for the fatigue - like malic acid and magnesium, or try flower pollen, etc - you can do a search here for what people try.

7-8 months aggressive IV and oral treatment.

Then I started to turn the corner.

Don't give up.
And if something isn't working for you, ask your doc if you can try a different combo of antibacterials.

Sometimes switching it up, well, switches things up.

Good Luck

felt like total crap for the first 8 weeks on abx, then I saw a tiny improvement. still improving and one step forward, 5 steps back, haha , after a couple years. ? or is it only one year? I cannot even remember and too tired to look.

I really started to feel more like me this past spring, and then bam- rebitten and here I go again. so I think it was about 2 years to START to feel kinda normal for me. I think.
