My mom has Lyme, breast cancer in remission, and chronic bronchitis.

I've done some searching to try to find information about chronic bronchitis associated with Lyme and have not found much.

Hoping someone may have some information.

She has been sick with bronchitis off and on for over 2 years now. And it gets bad.

Come to find out (MUCH to my dismay), her Dr has been giving her with steroids for quite some time.

She thinks allergies are the cause. An allergist told her adults don't develop allergies, it's an immune system problem.

If anyone has any information about Lyme and Chronic bronchitis, can you please share? I need to present her with some information / solution

that this really is immune system related, aggravated even further by all of the steroids.

Thank you in advance - so appreciated for any help!

I used to have SEVERE chronic bronchitis and asthma. It is completely gone after doing antiparasite cleansing and high dose vitamin c/salt. If you don't want to do the parasite cleansing, try high dose vitamin C (esther c)powder. I read somewhere that vitamin C can help relieve asthma.

I once had a doctor do IV vitamin C when I had very bad bronchitis and it was gone the next day. Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine and boosts the immune system. Google Vitamin c + asthma.

momintexas .. Very sorry to hear that your mom is not doing well. [Frown]

Is she being given a steroid inhaler or steroid pills?

If it's an inhaler, she could be having problems with a fungal infection in her lungs. I know I took the inhaler a few years ago when I had a bad spell and I eventually figured out it was just making me worse and worse.

I weaned myself off and was much better .. emphasis on WEAN!!

Thank you for the replies.

My mom is really stubborn and I seriously doubt I could get her to do a parasite cleanse, but I'll definitely try.

I think she'd be more open to the Vitamin C, thanks so much for the suggestion.

Lymetoo....she had been given steroid injections for quite some time. At one point, they apparently had her on 80mg.

They currently have her on a steroid inhaler.

I know she has high candida levels. We are about to get her levels tested again, but I suspect they will still be very high.

[Frown]

Antibiotics don't seem to help her much at all, so I suspect it's viral or fungal.

It makes it harder when she doesn't give me all of the information.

I had no idea she was being given steroid injections for so long. [Frown] [Frown] [Frown]

What helped me most :

oregano capsules ( powdered herb ) by NOW

oregano oil capsules by NOW

Golden Seal - THESE ARE ANTIFUNGAL and can make a huge difference!

Also , ivermectin helped me get off all asthma meds after YEARS of battling asthma and bronchitis. I think I had "lungworm" which is quite possible with LYME or CFS . I still take it a few times a week . I

I used to constantly struggle to breathe. Oregano oil and powder herb is wonderful and many people have reviewed it at amazon or iherb and say it helps with lung issues. That is how I discovered it .

Your dear Mom might want to look into using Olive Leaf Extract for her problems. It is a natural antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal herb.

The best one is Seagate brand. See their website at www.seagateproducts.com

Btw - I am in no way affiliated with this product or company, just trying to help.

Read Dr. Morton Walker's book, "Olive Leaf Extract" which you might find in your local library or buy it used on Amazon for very little.

Here is a link for a very informative thread on Lymenet about OLE:

I too have had problems with chronic bronchitis for the past 15 months.

It turned out to be chlamydia pneumonie (aka walking pnemonia, not the other type of chlamydia).

There is a whole website that Keebler recommended to me with protocols for it: www.cpnhelp.org

I highly recommend asking for testing for CPN, also mycoplasma, any other suspects!

I'm not over it, but at least I know what I'm dealing with now.

I was going to say fungal infection since it's after cancer and Lyme treatment ... I see a few have already brought that up.

WPinVA....thank for you mentioning Chlamydia pneumonia.

I had forgotten about that one and just called her Dr's office to see if they can add it to the

blood work she had done yesterday. I do know mycoplasma was on the list yesterday.

We are way too familiar with that one. [Frown] Tough one to beat.

Thank you lpkayak.

We actually have a mold specialist coming out to see if they have mold.

They just redid their house and I suspect the "new" smell isn't helping things.

So...interestingly enough...we just found mold in the HVAC unit in our attic. I definitely do have CPN (multiple positive tests) but now am wondering if this mold - which developed over the summer -- may have prevented me from getting over it.

It's gone now at least after a whirlwind week.

Side note: got introduced to this stuff - a non-toxic mold cleaner: http://www.benefect.com/

+ for EBV Positive is >21.9 hers is >600.0 IgG
wondering if this is current contagious infection?

+ for candida

There is a gene component when it comes to mold. 25% of pop. Have gene that makes you unable to detox mold...now that test is available more realize that is what is going on. Survivingmold.com is where info is. There is fb group also

Wow, looks like a lot to deal with. Hope she's feeling better by now. I'm surprised that a doctor said one cannot get allergies later in life. Lots of people do.

Diet is key, but as you know it is very hard to get people to change.

Good luck.

I've tried doing some research on the mold results. Still trying to figure out what it all means.

Dr's appt to go over is in 2 weeks.

Tutu - she's still the same. Unfortunately.

jackie51 - Diet sure is key - I agree with you 100% and you are also right that's it's VERY hard to get people to change.

It may be time for me to back off some. Maybe I'm pushing too hard.

It's just hard to watch. [Frown]

Poster "Keebler" wrote about this mold specialist last year (thanks!) and I kept this information just in case someone needed it:

http://lisanagy.com/

"Dr. Nagy is not a LLMD, however she understands the kind of toxicity issues faced by many with Lyme. She did not have Lyme but overcame very serious MCS. She spoke at the 2011 & 2012 annual ILADS conference."

You should contact her for more advice, since your Mom has Lyme. See #4 on the last page of her homepage.

I would suspect mycoplasma since it is a fairly common coinfection. Particularly is phlegm is a symptom.

D Bergy, thank you for your reply. I suspected that as well.

Both mycoplasma and chlamydia pneumonia came back negative - which really surprised me.
