I am having bad chest pains and feeling very short of breath.
I feel like I maybe shouldn't ignore this but my doctor already said that "I don't have Lyme anymore" since I did the 21 day Doxy so she won't give me more antibiotics.
Will the hospital say the same thing? I feel like I should go but don't want to waste a night in the ER for them to do nothing for me : (
I have an appointment on the 20th for the LLMD which I have just been waiting for, but 2 weeks seems like a long time at this point with no antibiotics and increasingly worse chest pains

Oh gosh, please yes go to the hospital.
Your doctor is very wrong that 21 days of doxy will cure Lyme.
Lyme can cause serious heart issues.
I don't know if the ER will say the same thing as your PCP but with those issues, better to get checked out!

I've been to the ER about 15 times in the past year (admitted four times) with heart symptoms. They never help, but at least they can tell me I'm not having a heart attack.
I did read about one guy's Lyme treatment causing a heart attack. I try to take the better safe than sorry approach.
I started going to the small stand-alone ERs and they take much less time to tell me that I'm ok.

I think we've all been to the ER dozens of times. We know the response that we get from ER Dr's. However, if you do go, I'd try to get some more antibiotics.
If you do have an acute case of lyme or relatively new, you need antibiotics asap. Even herbal is better than nothing.
I'm only saying it because I'd do anything to go back to that original window of time when I first got bit/sick to immediately get some doxy at the least.

I did not go to the hospital last night. Mostly for my poor husbands sake. We were both very busy, stressed, and overworked people before I became so ill. We own 2 businesses together and I have a full time job working from home also.
He basically has double the workload with the businesses right now and I'm honestly worried about him with everything thats been suddenly put on his plate. I don't know how much more he will be able to take. We don't have much family around to help. Anyway thats why I decided to stick it out last night. He really can't afford a night of no sleep in the ER.
droid, I am not sure if it is considered acute or chronic at this point. My PCP said it is acute, my my Western Blot showed both past and current infection.
Is the ER likely to give more antibiotics? If so I will get myself there pronto!

You said you have an appointment with the LLMD on the 20th.
Call the office and ask if they have any cancellations. Keep calling every day if you have to! Patients have been able to get in sooner to see a LLMD by doing this.

My heart goes out to you since chest pain was my all time worst symptom before I knew that it was lyme and co's.
I went to the ER more times than I can count now since I was always getting a new symptom WITH the chest pain and I was foolish enough to think that with a new symptom, they would finally know what was wrong with me.
They did admit me a few times and even went as far as doing a heart cauterization in this time frame, but eventually said they couldn't find anything, so it must be anxiety.
Very, discouraging.
But I'm writing because for ME....I found that the actual chest issues that I was having were actually a symptom of Babesia (one of the co-infections.)
Even if you had treated the lyme long enough, they didn't appear to check you for co's and most certainly didn't treat you for any.
I'm really glad that you have an upcoming appointment since that's probably going to do you a lot more good than any ER.
Still though, if you ever are concerned about chest pains, it still is not a bad idea to get it checked out in the ER. Better safe than sorry.
But sadly, I imagine you will find that you have Babesia that will be needing to be treated before you can move on from this gawd awful illness.
Hang in there and keep us posted on how your appointment goes.

- About wondering if ER will prescribe any particular Rx:
never ask. It can destroy your medical file for all of time to be noted as "Rx-seeking" - and, while this used to be more noted for those seeking mind altering drugs or pain meds . . . many with lyme have had emblazed into their medical files
"antibiotic seeking behavior"
If you have a true emergency - or wonder if it might be one - go to ER but not to seek any particular Rx, go for assessment and their recommendation for the immediate emergency issue at hand. -
