Dx with Chronic Lyme by a LLMD 4yrs ago tried many treatments including IV antibiotics. Physically have improved some but Cognitively is still real bad. Developed systemic candida and treated by naturopathic health coach and LLMD with diet which has improved.
On Lamictal,Cymbalta,Lithium and clonazepam for sleep for over 6 yrs for depression and bipolar. Take Adderall for energy and concentration-which I know tricks my body into thinking it has energy that it doesn't.
LLMD would like me to be off most of these meds but I'm a mess when trying to wean off slowly one over time.
Without the Adderall I'm couch to bed. Adrenal and mag levels have come back normal. I'm sick n tired of being sick n tired and want to quit.
If I didn't have kids I would have ended my life a long time ago!!! Yes I have a counselor a husband and a couple friends a few family members that haven't given up on me.

It sounds like you're on a lot of stuff that affects the mind. Maybe talk to your doctor about tweaking them ... tell him about being "disgusted with life."

I agree with Six about taking meds that affect you mentally. Maybe there's ways you could experiment with alternatives.
Like for energy, magnesium, malic acid and magnesium combo, bee pollen, and maybe others have some energy supplement suggestions.
For concentration, mine improved when I started taking Armour thyroid, due to bloodtesting low for thyroid. Have you had your T3 thyroid level checked? And that's just me - we're all different and can only say what has worked for each of us.
Perhaps each area of what the meds are accomplishing for you could be discussed for alternatives. Once we get more comfortable, it gets easier to manage.

I've found Rhodiola Rosea to be very effective for eliminating the fatigue that I've struggled with. While its not going to be as powerful as an amphetamine like adderal, I found the effect to be immediately noticeable.
I can feel where you're coming from. I've been trying to get better from chronic lyme for 4 years now. I definitely feel like throwing in the towel sometimes. Eliminating the fatigue made things a lot more tolerable though.

TTLav - ugh. So sorry for everything you're going through. We were in a similar boat. I know how you feel.
Please know that we are all pulling for you.
My husband suffered from bipolar for many years and was on lamictal too (only took the edge off his extreme irritability). He also was on various antidepressants that did nothing.
Once we got the lyme dx and eventually wound up with the right LLMD (long story), his bipolar was cured in 3 weeks and he was able to go off all psych meds. That was several years ago.
Cognitive issues can be caused by many things including lyme, yeast, and MOLD. Again, husband had severe cognitive issues - forgetful, word-finding problems, getting lost in familiar places.
We treated the lyme, yeast and mold, and the issues improved. At that point we were using herbals, antifungals, diet & detox, plus cholestyramine for the mold illness.
It's a bit of a drive, but there's a great lyme literate naturopath in CT if you want to get a second opinion. PM me.
Hang in there!

Big pharma is not your friend. Big pharma is there to make money $$$$ off of you----- not to help you get better. Big pharma does not love you... or anyone in America, for that matter.
They are just a bunch of evil, lying selfish corporations who want to keep you sick and permanently medicated so they can have a revenue stream off your misery.
Try to wean off as many of these dangerous medications as you can.. These medications should only be used as a last resort --- once you have determined that you do not have a serious wheat allergy, a mold issue, a methylation problem or a problem with aspartame, etc..
Yes-- chronic Lyme disease is a drag.. But life is wonderful even with a chronic disease--- and we are NOT dead yet!!!
The Fall leaves this year were so beautiful, and I am so glad I can see them and that I am still alive.
And we will find a cure to this disease!!
At least you have relatives who still care for you--- which is better than I can say for myself, -- my family betrayed me after I got Lyme--- although I do have a wonderful and kind husband that I thank God for every day. Yes God has been good to me.
Hang in there.
I had doctors try to persuade me to take lamictal and other major drugs. Luckily I refused these moronic, money hungry drug pushers.
I later found out that my irritability problem was due to too much aspartame and too much wheat! These foods were literally driving me insane and destroying my life.. I got much better when I eliminated aspartame and reduced wheat. I then found out about Methyl B12-- and I have almost completely eliminated my seasonal mood problem with this simple methyl b vitamin--- which is very inexpensive.
MSM -- a sulphur product, together with Artemisinin--- has almost eliminated my morgellons lesions- allowing me to feel less ashamed of my once pretty looks..
I still have massive chronic fatigue from the Lyme which prevents me from having energy for friends ( no energy for people) but I am generally happy and I am enjoying what life I have left-- composing songs, doing a little bit of real estate and contributing to the thread on Spirochetecidal and Anti Biofilm Compounds here..I feel that as long as I am working towards a cure--- life does have meaning.
All of us need to be doing something to help find a cure, rather than whining about our admittedly tragic lives.
Anyway-- take care and try to focus on your blessings.
God bless you.
