if you possibly have leaky gut / stomach issues and candida along with lyme is it a bad idea to go on antibiotics? or is it okay if you protect your stomach?

It's bad idea, in my opinion.
I always had terrible stomach aches with abx and then, diarrhea. My daughter had real trouble with abx, and just healing its side effects took her literally months (about 5, 6 months).
If you know about herbs (Buhner, Cowden, Chinese herbs, garlic, etc) or homeopathics (Byron White, nosodes, ledum, hypericum), I have no doubt: I would go first on that route, even though it takes more substances to heal (more herbs) than taking a single abx or 2 (that also may not solve the problem)...

Idk your situation, but I'd protect your stomach at all costs. The root of lyme & any other disease pretty much lies in the gut. So if you can avoid damaging it, I would.
There are orals that have high blood absorption rates. So you may want to research those & weigh your options.
Brussels is right, I'd check out herbal protocols first.

what if your symptoms were due to gastritis / leaky gut and not the lyme? or candida instead? is candida overgrowth actually real... wouldnt many more people have it? i did test positive but am not sure if i have active infection. i have been taking cumanda. but i feel i will never see any change in how i feel. i guess it's time to go back to a doctor
used to take otc meds a lot of days a week for years so am unsure if i have leaky gut / candida / any other stomach problems. i have indigestion a lot sometiems nausea and occasionally get bad stomach cramps.
should i go to a gastroentologist as well or would i just get an IBS diagnosis?

- Kasey,
You tested positive for lyme. You have many classic symptoms of lyme.
Have you been assessed in person by an ILADS educated LLMD or LL ND? That would be important.
I don't know what your tests were and some of the numbers / bands mean more than others
but lyme is very likely on board - now. And if that is ignored, you will likely never have symptoms resolve.
Yet, there are various ways to approach treatment for lyme. You say you have been taking cumanda but see no change. Whatever approach taken, it's going to be very complex, with multiple levels, rotations, etc. No one thing alone will be enough.
And, there are still other things to consider: coinfections, parasites in addition to, though, not instead of lyme.
Is there anyway you might be able to get a rife machine?
Are you gluten-free? Diary-free? -

Nearly everyone has some amount of yeast in their gut. Taking antibiotics just increases that chance.
So .. do what you can to minimize that.
Most GI doctors do not recognize candida for how serious it can be (if at all) .. They only want to do diagnostic tests which can bring them more money. Most will dx IBS or SIBO... another catch-all diagnosis.

do you think i could have candida overgrowth from taking otc analgesics for years? is it easy to get candida overgrowth?
i might go back to the first doc i saw. he takes insurance and might not be great for complex lyme patients but he does do IV, just never did on me while i went. but am also thinking of seeing a natural lyme doc as well, maybe first..
i am not gluten free, dairy free yet. i really want to try to be gluten free which would rule things out i am sure. am debating if i should see a gastroentologist or not to see if i have gastritis, crohns? etc. but i know most docs dont recognize candida and most tests are not accurate right?
i need help on whether herbs are good enough for treating, or do you need some type of conventional meds? do regular meds supress the immune system? do you NEED to do pulsing or IV?
