Hello, And I thank everyone for the valuable information. I am recently seeing a LLMD in the Orlando Area. Starting on IV treatment; the doctor said he can not write an order for a picc line, as it would raise flags. Everything I researched supports a picc line. Or course this doctor is not partisapating with medical insurance. 1) I don't understand why he can't order the line; 2) how could I go about getting a line, to make the IV treatment earlier?

Your PCP can order one. Many valid health reasons to support need for even basic daily saline infusions.

Thank you! i started the Oral antibiotics, although I could not tolerate the Meds. Have some upper GI issues. The next plan of treatment is rocephin 3x week, increasing the does, for a min. Of 4-6 weeks. My PCP has not enbrased lyme and discredited the IgeneX results, dispute all of the symptoms. I will reach out and see if my PCP will coorperate with the treatment. I really appreciate the input. Shocked on the failure for insurance and CDC to inbrace Lyme. Pharmaceutical, insurance/ lobbyist, and corrupt politicians. Orlando is very difficult; there is no legislation that mandates a certain degree of treatment like some of the northern states. Thank you !!!

Yes, you are in a very bad place for Lyme treatment. So you would only do Rocephin 3 times a week?
That's hardly worth the effort to get a PICC line put in.
If you were taking oral doxy I can see why you'd have digestive upset. With doxy you have to take it in the middle of a full meal and be sure not to lie down for at least 45-60 minutes afterward.
Perhaps you could try another med if you were taking doxy?

Thanks for the info! I spoke to a LLMD in New York. Was told rocephin IV should be the last resort, and if Rocephin is used, it should be administered every day. I am so confused at this point. It's nice that people care enough to provide insight. Thank you

I have had a hard time tolerating oral antibiotics and a PICC line with IV abx has been tremendously helpful in my treatment. The downside of course is the tremendous costs associated with IV abx which hasn't been covered over the years by any of my health insurance plans.
