1-2 times a year I am completely bed bound by 102 temp (or higher), severe neck pain with inflamed neck glands. My throat becomes sore, and I have awful sinus pain followed by head congestion and post-nasal drip. When my sinuses do clear within days, there is blood and icky mucas. During this time of illness I am not hungry, and sometimes have stomach upset.
My white count and lab work, throat culture always come back normal (despite high fever). My doc thinks sinus infection. BAD sinus infection. Anyone else out there with this experience?? Is this just a bad sinus infection made worse from the chronic Lyme, OR not sinus at all?? just trying to understand what is going on.

I don't know - I'm not a doctor. Just wanted to mention that when I first started drinking mangosteen juice, which is anti-inflammatory, my sinuses drained for 48 hours, even though I had no sinus symptoms. So am wondering whether the juice might help you clear out your sinuses.
It's found in health food stores and online. There are juice blends - I like Mango-Xan, as it's the most tart of the blends. There's also the pure form, called Xango - I found it too strong for me, but we're all different in how we respond.
If you try it, go slow, like always, to see how you respond.

Just curious however if my symptoms sound Lyme-related? I will see my allergist next week.

I get bad sinus infections too. In fact I just had surgery. I had them pre-Lyme too, but interestingly one of my early Lyme sx was sinus congestion - so my Lyme was initially mis-dx'ed as sinus infection.
Have you seen an ENT?

WPinVA: What were your worst symptoms? I too had the sinus surgery and it def helped. Just not sure what is going on now. Maybe Lyme? Maybe not?
