Im seeing anew LLMD on jan 5th but so in the mean time im still working with the same lyme doc I had since October. Currently taking a bunch of supplements, couple herbs, started rifampin first and now on rifampin, doxy, and tindamax that's 2 days out of the week.
Rifampin was rough but I got used to it.. But now since I started doxy... Oh boy I don't feel like I can tolerate this and it's really scaring me.
I am getting EXTRA DIZZY, heaviness in my limbs, weakness everywhere, terrible pain, head pressure like crazy. I feel like something terrible will happen. What do you guys think this is?
Do you think this is a herx or just that I can't tolerate the side effects of doxy? I have terrible neuro lyme and im So concerned that if I can't even tolerate doxy how on earth
Will I tolerate IV treatment that my LLMD already knows I need? I do a strict paleo diet, detox as much as possible ... I don't understand why my body feels like it's just rejecting treatment.
Any help is greatly appreciated

I don't really know the answer but I have to say the worst side effects I have ever had from any med were from doxycycline -- it was bad enough that I just stopped taking it.
I didn't have the same reaction to minocycline; at least not over the time period that I took it which was about ten days.
I've read that mino is as good as doxy -- maybe you could switch.

Actually I think it's a herx. Things to look out for with really DANGEROUS side effects are a strong fever, actual paralysis, anything seizure-like (won't happen but if you find yourself jerking around at all) any kind of migraine, bad rash, vomiting.
If you get any of that stuff or something you feel is dangerous, go to the ER.
I was near-suicidal on doxy. I think emotional weirdness/anxiety is part of the deal with that drug.

Thanks jordana! I always thought a herx had to feel like the flu which doesn't really happen to me. I just want to make sure my body isn't rejecting treatment, but thank u!

Every time you start a new med that treats lyme, you should feel worse. That is the med killing the lyme.
But, also look up possible side effects. If you have the side effects listed, then you may need to stop the med and let the doctor know.
Start drinking lemon water continuously--fresh lemons squeezed into water. It will flush out the dead germs.
You can also take Alka Seltzer Gold (it has no aluminum) with lemon squeezed into it. You can take it 3 times per day.
These 2 things should ease the herx. It is almost miraculous how much these things help.
It is a good thing that your doc started you out slow, because you were suffering so much. You must have a high germ load.
The common side effects of doxy are nausea, vomiting, reflux, diarrhea, and sun sensitivity (can cause a medication sunburn--very nasty).
There are more possible side effects. So look it up. Hopefully, you will get relief in about 3 days and even some relief today if you do the lemon water and Alka Seltzer.

I am loading up on lemon water today and alkaseltzer gold.
Going into see my LLMD tomorrow for my magnesium shot so I will bring it up to her tomorrow. I decided to stop for now, symptoms just feel way to concerning to continue unless she says its normal to feel what I feel. Thank you !
