I was tested a year ago and nothing now a positive blood test for latent TB.
I am currently infusing Rocephin and Flagyl for lyme. I just past day 60 and it was awful around day 56 which I expected would be rough from treatment of 13 years ago,
The Doc started me Isoniazid 300 mg once a day. I started 3 weeks ago and today I said Uncle to it all. Told Doc I am taking a break I felt like was dying. The insomnia has been pure hell.
I am thinking maybe I should treat the TB after I am done with the Lyme. I was feeling a bit better but the last 3 weeks have been brutal.
I also have done minimal reading but from what I have seen so far that Lyme might fool or the immune system and give a false pos for TB when it is actually Lyme. Either way the Isoniazid just sucked and really killed my guts with constant pain and cramping.
Any insights would be great.
take care,
Paul
P.S. If you think my doc is an idiot he is not. He may not know the latest and greatest but he is trying. He also has no love for IDSA so how bad can he be?

Oh my gosh I am so sorry to hear this.
Do you have lung symptoms? How were you diagnosed?
I think in the short term putting off treatment isn't such a big deal. But I did a quick check and it seems like TB is responsive to Rifampin, which is also a Lyme drug. Do you tolerate that?

Latent? Doesn't that mean it is not active?
The thing that caught my attention is that persons with immune deficiencies, such as HIV, may go on to active disease. But what is the immune status of people with chronic lyme? My impression is that the immune system is working overtime, resulting in inflammation which causes damage.
I don't think lyme can turn into mycobacterium. Once a spirochete, always a spirochete.
