I have an upper right tooth which is grey. not off white or yellow but a dull grey. my gums hurt and are above that tooth. it's sore and if you press on the jaw it hurts.

brushing my teeth last night, I spit out alot of blood, not pink toothpaste but blood.

I can't get in to dentist until February 9th.

many years ago my husband had gingivitis so bad he had to have his jaw scraped cause it was also badly infected. he was sick for a couple of weeks.

should I call the dentist and asked to be worked in?

I don't have dental insurance so this is going to hurt.

does lyme affect teeth?

Go to Wal Mart or to the Dollar Store and buy some milk of magnesia. (Phillips' contains bleach)

Begin brushing your teeth with it and see what happens. I'm pretty sure this worked for someone on the magnesium group.

If it's not hurting, like throbbing and all, it wouldn't be a real emergency. If you start getting swelling up above the tooth where the roots would be, then try to get in as an emergency.

A tooth will turn darker when the roots die inside. You could have a tooth that has been slowly dying from trauma, decay or just 'age'. As it has died, the roots turn from a nice soft spongy healthy feel, to a harder, dead stiff feel.

Without seeing xrays, or knowing any more info from you, this is hard to say what is going on. Usually dead teeth, ones that the roots have died, will turn grey. Seeing a dentist will determine what is really going on.

If no pain, not an emergency. Blood and bleeding can just be from your gums, not the roots or the tooth itself.

Now, on another note, if this is a bicuspid, enamel is thinner on bi's and cuspids themselves. When the enamel is thinner, you will see the yellow or grey tones shine through the enamel more. And as we age, this happens more... sad..lol

It could be that you are seeing through the enamel and that's all.

If you're in pain, then make a quicker visit, otherwise, not an emergency. (I was in dentistry for 25 yrs).

Lyme, Babs, Fry Bug..... Whatever it is, may a treatment be discovered to make us all whole again!

thanks had. some pain more like annoyance really. but if I press on jaw wow....upper right middle tooth. you can see where the gum is raised. also has a white pimple area on the gum.

rest of teeth ok. I was using colgate but switched to enamel pro. I use electric toothbrush. use act mouthwash as I have dry mouth...sometimes so dry it puckers...wow

havent had cleaning in about a year or more...my bad

well lets cross fingers.

id rather go to obgyn than a dentist....

Oh Boy, what a simple issue simple solution. No need to be in a dither over this, just brush and floss, use essential oils. Do your due diligence on the Internet !

ok got in at 8 this morning. full set of xrays.

1. no tooth infection. just discolored. root canal is sensitive but not damaged. will have to watch.

2.tmj is acting up. jaw muscles extremely tense. need to start wearing splint at night again.

3. I have a really bad sinus infection. it shows up in the bone area above and below the eye. that's causing the facial and tooth pain. I have to go on amoxy four times a day for 10 days because of the severity.

so it's not a "dental" issue per se. just bad sinuses. figures. had bad sinuses for years.
so more abx.

he also said jus keep brushing and flossing. I'm using coconut oil pulling too.

isn't lyme fun???

Mostly good news .. sinus infection is NOT! ugh!!

Get out that milk of magnesia .. I'd be willing to bet that the grey tooth will be white again.
