Just got iGenX results back and my two year old is positive for Lyme and ehrlikia. Prior treatment of four weeks of cephtin and amoxycilin obviously did not cure him. Was infected about six months ago.
Doctor, who is familiar with Lyme, recommends four weeks of high dose doxy for the ehrlikia and then follow up herb treatment for the Lyme.
Does this sound like the right treatment?

It sure sounds like a good start...especially for the Ehrlichia. None of the broad spectrum ABX will really touch Ehrlichia. In fact, Bactrim (and others) can make the infection WORSE.
Doxy is the recommended ABX for patients of ALL ages according to the CDC. My advice comes straight from the CDC page on Ehrlichiosis. Please read the whole page as it contains very important and useful info about Ehrlichiosis and treatment!
There is mounting evidence that Ehrlichia treatment needs to be 4 weeks to minimize the possibility of a relapse. That info was gleaned from Buhner's books and a few citations he mentioned.
So I think your doc is spot on about the Ehrlichia treatment.
As for the lyme, we all know how difficult that can be to treat for with ABX. The Doxy will definitely hit the spirochete form of lyme, but will induce round bodies (cysts). So, if your doc is familiar with the herbs for lyme, I would give that a shot. Just don't stop treatment UNTIL symptoms are GONE FOR AT LEAST TWO MONTHS.
An additive suggestion would be to get Stephen Buhner's latest books about Lyme and the coinfections and discuss Buhner's recommendations for treatment with your child's doc.

Do you think we can beat it? I know six months is worse than one month but better than six years.

I think he can beat it! Children tend to rally more quickly than adults. Just be informed and armed with as much info as possible. It will give you an advantage as an advocate for your son.
God bless you and your son!

I'm curious. Which test came back positive from IgeneX? Did you do the antibody test, or PCR?

Can so small children take doxy? My daughter could never get doxy at that age. She only took amoxy, then it didn't help anyway, so we shifted to herbs, homeopathics and a sort of TENS machine with rife frequencies (called KMT).
She got well after many bites, many infections, many treatments and fortunately we didn't have to use abx anymore with her.
she always had sensitive digestion, and abx did more harm than good to her. It took us months to clean the mess in her gut...
We shifted to more natural products and she improved much better than abx. We tried abx twice with her, after two tick bites, and she could never get better, only worse.
Specially in her tummy. We took the option abx out after we learned that other combined treatments worked better, without the long term damage of abx, that anyway did not work (as she was too small to take doxy).
Today she's been 6.5 years lyme free, DESPITE new bites. She fought many coinfections, on and off, all with natural treatments and kinesiology.
Never in the world I would recommend abx for small kids. But I'm not a doctor, just a mother!
