Just wanted to give you all some encouragement… I just gave birth to our first child, Grace. She was healthy except very small at 4 lbs. 14 oz. I was monitored carefully throughout my pregnancy, and was on antibiotics throughout (Amoxicillin). Now I am on breast-feeding but still on antibiotics (Amoxicillin and Zithromax), from the guidelines from Dr. J.
I had Velamentous cord insertion, which we do not know is related to Lyme or not. Doctors do not know the cause of this highly unusual problem. However, the baby was fine!
We are excited about this new addition to our family and wanted to give the rest of you hope who are in your childbearing years. The baby was a complete surprise to us as we always thought I was too sick.
Yay!

Congratulations and God bless all of you! So nice to hear good news for a change.
I didn't know what "velamentous cord insertion" was, so I looked it up and here is the definition:
"Velamentous insertion of umbilical cord: An abnormal condition in which the umbilical cord does not insert into the placental mass but, instead, traverses the fetal membranes before it inserts into the umbilical cord."

Yay that's awesome! Great to hear. My son, now 5 was born healthy and still is to this day.
I had no active infection at the time, but still took amoxicillin throughout most of my pregnancy, chose a cesarean, and didn't breast feed as precautions. Don't know if that helped prevent him from acquiring the infection but I know it didn't hurt.
Again congrats on your new healthy baby ! Enjoy every minute you can xoxo
