I unfortunately had 3 root canals before I knew I had Lyme disease. I am currently under the care of a great llmd and on my 7th week of IV Abx. I am also seeing a biological Lyme friendly dentist to address my root canals. He is currently re doing the crowns and treating them with ozone. He believes we can mantain their health through ozone treatments. Do you guys think it's true ? Anyone else still get well with previous root canals? Many people tell me that root canals NEED to be out in order to heal. Is this definitely true or do you think I will be ok with ozone treatment ?

I'm sorry, I have no "right" answer for you. Not sure there is one, and certainly no one would make any guarantees either way as Lyme can dig deep into any tissue and hang out there.

If I were considering choices, I'd first try the least invasive and least expensive and hope for the best, especially since you already have the root canals.

Let's say it is the ozone treatment you decide on. If it doesn't work and a tooth is giving you a problem later you can discuss other options.

But, since Lyme can bury anywhere, and you can't, for example, cut off your ears if it is buried there, and remove your eyes if it gets in them, it would seem a bit much (to me) to expect removing root canals would for sure eliminate the problem.

I posted some links to help you find a dentist, so maybe give one or two a call and ask what they think. A second opinion?

That makes a lot of sense ...

I never thought of it that way. I think I'll stick to the ozone now considering its way less invasive and my body is already under stress with IV treatment.

Thanks so much for your help !!

I got rid of lyme, babs, and bart and I had 2 root canals before I was diagnosed.

So, I am a case in which nothing needed to be done.

I have been cured for over 10 years now, praise God!

I also had metal fillings. So, my doc's philosophy was to treat me and see what happened. After a number of months, I asked him if he thought I needed my metal fillings out, and he said, "Evidently you don't!" because I was progressing so well.

See how you do. Hopefully, you will do fine just the way you are.

I still had 2 root canals when I got healed, but I had taken off the worst ones.

Ozone works for lighter cases, and it is mostly temporary.

Then lyme went dormant, but my teeth slowly rotted. Literally. I was fed up with treatment, let them rot, lyme did not come back, but my health deteriorated.

I lost slowly weight, and then decided to take the 2 teeth off.

Surprise: these 2 root canal teeth had spread their infections, I suppose, because then I had 5 dead teeth in total: they died from inside out. No visible signs from outside!!!

Any chronic lyme sufferer has impaired immune system. It's not only lyme the problem. It's much more.

I didn't take all of root canal teeth off (only 2), but I needed to pull them later, anyway, to save my life. It got very bad, specially with losing weight, cheekbone pain, hearty symptoms etc.

Fast forward: all root canals out 1-2 years ago, I can sleep again, blood pressure is normalized, and I'm slowly gaining my weight back.

the teeth is like a map of our body: it feels like they are all interconnected with the whole body. Heart, blood pressure, anxiety, insomnia or bad sleep: the day 2 dead teeth came out (the worst), I could sleep again!

i feel much 'lighter' without cavitations and dead teeth. Since I took them off more than a year ago, I didn't lose further teeth... Which is good news.

Wow, thank you Brussels. I have a great biological dentist here in nj but I am moving to Florida soon and need to find one there by me.

Did your dead root canals that were taken out ever cause you dizziness that was relieved ? I'm pretty sure my dizziness is the Lyme
But wondering if it's the root canal.

Thanks for sharing all that ❤️

Sorry, Semia, I just saw your answer now, a bit late?

Dizziness? I don't think so. One caused me heart symptoms, like high blood pressure, insomnia, arrhythmic beats, missing heart beats, then came fatigue (because of irregular heart beats and lack of sleep).

I think it is very common to have heart symptoms with bad root canals, if my memory is good (I read a whole book about teeth and health long ago).

Another common problem is is arthritis. It is true that I had a bit of arthritis a year ago (when I pulled my last dead tooth), and now I have zero arthritis!

I just thought about that now. I had minor arthritic symptoms, but didn't treat them really. Like popping joints, bits of pain. It was not lyme, in my case.

Funny to think they are all gone. Really gone, fully!!! I just realized it NOW!! [Big Grin]

So maybe -maybe!- it was also caused by dead teeth?!!! It's been exactly a year since I have no longer dead teeth, but I don't know exactly since when the arthritic symptoms fully disappeared. I didn't notice!
