I just ordered a 23 and me test and am awaiting my results. I am particularly interested in this for the detox pathway results. Some people think that if you have genes that make it so that specific detox pathways could be blocked it makes it difficult to detox things Iike heavy metals and possibly Lyme. I had a heavy metal test come back with metals that were off the charts yet I couldn't think back to a time when I remembered being exposed to them. I had read that there are a couple of detox pathways that could make it particularly difficult to detox Lyme bacteria out of the body. This is the mthfr gene and cbs gene. I believe I have the mthfr gene because when I take a multi my folic acid levels are high on blood tests. The cbs gene makes it difficult to detox ammonia from the body I think. I noticed that sometimes when I go to the bathroom my urine smells like ammonia. I didn't attribute this to anything at the time. Taking antibiotics seems to make the problem worse.i was wondering if anyone has noticed anything similar? And if anyone has experience with treating detox pathways please could you share your experience? If it helped or didn't help and which gene you treated for?

Mthfr is treated with methlcobalmin and methle folate ..the comt is liver pathways with glutithione on pathway 2, ltyrosine , sparga ,molybdenum and jordana says antitox 2 will help with ammonia. I think i had the cbs and sulfa was real bad or i angered bart...g6pd is homozygous too so high dose c and certain antibiotics are bad...itbis very complex...i believe amy yasko and the aussies at mthfr.com have it down

I'm homozygous for MTHFR c677t. Start out slowly. I didn't start treating it until recently (I've been better from Lyme for six years). I still can't take the supplement every day without feeling sick and getting diarrhea. You have to start slowly.
